Pop star Taylor Swift is winning fans over with her “The Fate of Ophelia” music video, the first music video released from her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” The album, which dropped on October 3, was met with mixed reviews. Some felt that she was “punching down” at Charli XCX in the song “Actually Romantic,” while others were turned off by her describing her fiancé’s “manhood” in the track “Wood.” Although that song has been the punchline for several dirty jokes, there were nothing but positive comments left on her music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” which is now available to stream on YouTube.

The music video, which clocks in at just under four minutes, features the “Cruel Summer” singer wearing several different wigs and costumes as she sings and dances along to the song. Many fans praised her backup dancers in the comments, along with the dramatic sets.

“I am in AWE of how they built the sets and all the dancers and the costumes,” one fan commented. “I love how she used her Eras team!! The dancers!! They are incredible!” another follower exclaimed while a third fan gushed over her hair color: “Blonde, dark, red… all flawless!”

Is ‘The Fate Of Ophelia’ Her Best Music Video?

Ever since “The Man” was released a few years ago, the “Anti-Hero” singer has been directing her own projects. “This might be her best music video yet,” one fan wrote. “The visuals, the choreography, the storytelling, the wigs, everything is so on point, and when you say you can’t be amazed, this woman just does it again.”

“The seamless, smooth transitions between scenes are actually magical. This is one of her BEST music videos literally ever,” another follower agreed. “This is arguably her best music video ever, and the fact that it's self-directed is insane, wow,” another fan chimed in.

Fans Love The Subtle Transitions In The Music Video

Many fans watched the video multiple times in order to pick up on clues that they missed the first time around. “I love how in the 1st verse there's a picture of a drowned girl. And in the 2nd, there's a girl who fights against it. At the end of 2nd verse, she loses and falls in the water, but in the next scene, she turns into a swimmer,” they wrote, linking the two verses together.

“She's mixing Shakespeare references, showgirls, and pure vibes. Iconic,” another follower shared. “My guy, this is INSANE. The absolute detail, the bread, the ‘kitty’ on the film snappy thingy, the letters on the chalkboard, the Oscar on the bathroom floor. You’ve done it again, Taylor,” another fan gushed.

Taylor Swift Praised For Providing A ‘Cinematic Experience’

One fan declared that it wasn’t a music video but a “cinematic experience,” while another called it a “pure masterpiece.” Another follower gushed, “Every time I think she’s peaked, she proves me wrong again. The growth, the artistry, the emotion — she’s literally once in a generation.”

“She literally looks like a Renaissance painting!!” another fan shared, while another follower said that the music video reminded them of “Tangled.” While some fans continued to gush over her music video, others wondered if she would release a special music video for “CANCELLED!” starring some of her famous friends, similar to how she filmed “Bad Blood” in 2014.
