The news of Bad Bunny's selection as next year's headliner was confirmed last month via his Instagram page. He uploaded a video set to his hit song "Callaíta," where he was seen atop a goal post on a beach, wearing a straw hat.

As reported by The Blast, the artist, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, celebrated his cultural heritage in a press statement, saying:

"What I'm feeling goes beyond myself. It's for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown... this is for my people, my culture, and our history."

The 31-year-old rapper has consistently been an outspoken critic of the current administration. Hence, the news of his performance sparked chatter among fans.

A fan stated that Bad Bunny was picked intentionally because he "is an outspoken critic of the current administration and even cancelled a U.S. tour over fears of ICE raids." Another pointed out the irony, saying it was a great opportunity to make a political statement.

Despite approval from powerhouses like Lopez and Jay-Z, not everyone believes in Bad Bunny's choice. Danica Patrick is one of such vocal critics.

The retired race car driver took to X, formerly Twitter, to slam the decision.

"Oh fun", she began sarcastically. Patrick expressed her displeasure that an artist who does not have  English songs was allowed.

"No songs in English should not be allowed at one of America's highest-rated television events of the year… not just for sports," she stated categorically.

As reported by The Blast, Patrick's comment was not received warmly by netizens. Fans decided to educate the 43-year-old model as they termed her "ignorant" and reminded her that Puerto Rico was a part of the United States.
