The American singer and actress emerged looking almost unrecognizable, and internet users cannot stop dissecting the intricacies of her very unusual new look.

Mandy Moore has had a very interesting year so far, as she started with a bang in January, facing intense backlash for attempting to raise money for a family member during the California wildfires.

The actress attended the red carpet event in a daring white silk shirt paired with a black skirt and black tights. She paired her scoop neck and leather skirt look with matching black stilettos, complementing her dashing, long legs.

Moore made a bold fashion statement by topping her look with a bright red glossy lip and dark hair with blonde highlights. However, despite this fashionable outing, the fans could not help but notice how drastically different she appeared compared to old times.

This X subscriber exclaimed, "I'm sorry, but has anyone else seen MANDY MOORE lately?!!?!?! This is so far from her face assigned at birth????," as a second commenter emphasized how shocking her transformation feels.

This interesting comment brought an entirely new angle to the discourse as the poster noted that a sickness might be the reason for her new face. The X user explained that a woman whom they knew had cancer, and their face became deformed as a result, but it is still a pleasure to see her alive.

Well, Moore has a legion of X users fighting her battle, as another subscriber wrote, "I'm sorry, but people need to stop with this insanity, forget about looks, how about nutrition?  This country is so f-ckin upside down." 

One more curious commenter asked how Moore's mouth had gotten wider and how her features had looked a lot stranger since they had last seen her. A sixth poster complained about how much she had aged due to an alleged adjustment made to her eyelid.

"I'm genuinely baffled. I can't figure out how this can be the same person. Mandy Moore was such a natural beauty, why get work done to the point of being unrecognized," another internet user added.

Safe to say Moore is paying the price of fame, considering these comments about her looks, but during her breakout days over two decades ago, things were not as complicated.

As shared by PEOPLE on Sunday, the TV star got candid in an interview about how growing up as a famous girl without social media felt so good.

She detailed that, as a renowned 15-year-old at the time, she could still live a very normal life, go to the park with her friends, and attend events without fear of being photographed.

"No one told me that I had to pick a lane and define myself in one way. I was able to figure things out as I went along, step by step," the actress recalled. She added that she could freely explore the best of both worlds at the time without feeling overwhelmed at any point.

Moore became a household name in 1999 when her debut single "Candy" took off massively. Years later, she has built a solid career from music and starring in several movies, including "This Is Us."

In January, The Blast shared that the TV star made a post appealing to the public to donate towards her brother-in-law and sister, who were rebuilding their lives after losing their home to the California wildfires.

She revealed that her sister and her husband, who is a touring artist, were expecting their first child at the time of the incident, suggesting that her pleas for donations were quite urgent.

However, the actress came under fire for making such a post, despite her financial status, and also forgetting that several people in need probably needed more donations than she did. 

Moore responded to the critics, insisting that the money would go to the right cause and that the fundraising was a family friend's idea, which she was only helping to amplify. She rounded up the post, declaring that anyone who had an issue with her post may decide not to donate, as she was not forcing anyone.

When the actress is not belting out sonorous tunes or flawlessly executing movie roles, she is lending her voice to sensitive matters. In July, The Blast noted that she discussed her experience as a pregnant woman in her 40s receiving healthcare.

Moore corrected the overwhelming notion surrounding 40+ pregnancies, asserting that women in this age bracket actually experience seamless pregnancies and deliveries.

She, however, observed that a bit of stigma may have now become recurring among healthcare providers who treat 40+ pregnancies like strange occurrences.

"So it's less about how I think the people and the perceptions they may have had, like the people in my life, it was just more about the healthcare system in general," she added. Moore urged everyone to ditch the "high risk" and "complicated" vocabulary used to describe such a beautiful and miraculous process.
