Arnold Schwarzenegger And Maria Shriver Close To Settling Decade-Long Divorce

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver are on the way to settling their divorce almost 10 years after the case was first filed.

According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the 'Terminator' star filed a declaration of disclosure in the famous former couple's divorce case, indicating that they are finally close to settling the case. As you know, Maria filed for divorce on July 1, 2011, after she learned the former Governor of California had fathered a child -- Joseph Baena -- with the family housekeeper.

Nothing has been filed in this case in over four years, the last being an address change for one of Arnold's lawyers.

In most celebrity divorce cases, the "final declaration of disclosure" is filed when the case is coming to an end. Technically, the document "must be served on the other party before or at the time you enter into an agreement resolving property or support issues." Our sources say the couple is trying to wrap things up and this is a good sign they are getting close.

This divorce has been the subject of several stories over the years after it appeared Arnold showed no interest in formalizing the end of their marriage. According to reports, Maria has waffled on the subject sometimes pushing to hammer out the divorce settlement and other times just letting it go. In most cases, everyone agreed that the couple wasn't getting back together anytime soon, but they just haven't ended it yet.

As for what is at stake, the former couple has an estate worth over $400 million dollars and reportedly did NOT enter into a prenuptial agreement when they were married in 1986. So, it should be a simple 50/50 split of the property and cash accrued over the years.

Interestingly, there is nothing else holding the former couple back from settling the divorce, including things like custody arrangements, as their three shared children are all over the age of 18 ... as is Arnold's other son, Joseph.
