Britney Spears is breaking her silence after the news of her heartbreaking statement against her conservatorship went viral.
The 39-year-old pop icon opened up on Instagram on Thursday, June 24. The troubled singer said the popular social media platform actually made her feel like things were ‘ok’ over the past two years. However, she penned a heartfelt apology to her followers and fans for presenting a false reality. Britney’s Instagram feed has been the topic of countless blog posts and even spawned a podcast dedicated to interpreting her social media antics. She’s now revealing that her life isn’t as perfect as it appears online.
“I just want to tell you guys a little secret 🤫 … I believe as people we all want the fairy tale life and by the way I’ve posted … my life seems to look and be pretty amazing … I think that’s what we all strive for,” Spears started her lengthy message on IG.
“That was one of my mother’s best traits … no matter how shitty a day was when I was younger … for the sake of me and my siblings she always pretended like everything was ok.”
Spears continued, “I’m bringing this to peoples attention because I don’t want people to think my life is perfect because IT’S DEFINITELY NOT AT ALL … and if you have read anything about me in the news this week 📰 … you obviously really know now it’s not !!!!”
Her Apology
Britney’s message was as clear and concise as it’s ever been. She directly addressed the elephant in the room (the conservatorship) for the first time on social media and said that her own pride stopped her in the past. She shared a picture of a curious little girl walking through the woods that feature a quote by Albert Einstein.
“I apologize for pretending like I’ve been ok the past two years … I did it because of my pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me … but honestly who doesn’t want to capture there Instagram in a fun light 💡🤷🏼♀️ !!!! Believe it or not pretending that I’m ok has actually helped … so I decided to post this quote today because by golly if you’re going through hell … I feel like Instagram has helped me have a cool outlet to share my presence … existence … and to simply feel like I matter despite what I was going through and hey it worked … so I’ve decided to start reading more fairy tales 👑🧚♀️🦄 !!!!!”
Her Statement In Court
Fans were touched and angered after learning what Britney’s life has been like in her own words. She calmly delivered her truth to the judge. “I would honestly like to sue my family to be totally honest with you,” Spears said in court on Wednesday, June 23. “I’ve been so angry, and I cry every day,” she continued, “I’m not lying. I just want my life back. I wanted to end the conservatorship without being evaluated.”
She revealed the conservatorship prevents her from getting married and having a baby and claimed she was forced to take lithium against her will.
Many celebrities have publicly supported Spears on social media, including Mariah Carey, Halsey, and more.
