Dixie admitted that while she had the app and was on it every day prior to fame, she always felt above it and embarrassed to create TikToks.

“I would watch Charli and cringe,” Dixie said of seeing her sister’s TikTok videos on the app. “It was definitely like ‘ugh, this is so embarrassing. My little sister is doing this.’”

However, things started to change for Dixie after her friends took notice of her younger sister’s following and making TikToks soon became “the cool thing” to do.

Dixie admitted that once she found out a creator can make money on the app she was all in.

Dixie, 19, and Charli, 16, quickly became the reigning queens of TikTok along with Addison Rae.

One would think stiff competition would have surfaced in their household, but the “Be Happy” singer said it was the complete opposite.

“With Charli and I, we never really had competition, because I would always do my own thing and she would always do hers. So, when we started doing social media we continued doing our own things but while being sisters,” Dixie revealed.

However, prior to TikTok and their simultanous fame, the 19-year-old revealed that there was no relationship between her and Charli.

“Charli and I were best friends when TikTok took off, we used to not have a relationship like at all. We wouldn’t talk, nothing, we would just see each other around the house sometimes, but like we could go weeks without having a conversation,” Dixie admitted on the podcast.

Dixie attributed the strained relationship to a slew of reasons. One reason being their age gap.

She is three years older than Charli, so while Dixie was in high school, Charli was still in middle school.

Both girls were struggling with their mental health, with Dixie revealing that one always thought they had it worse than the other.

Dixie said it was almost like a competition of whose mental health was worse.

Things between the sisters got even worse with Dixie admitting she was “jealous” of Charli, because Dixie’s mental health had gotten so bad that she couldn’t go to school, play sports or even build friendships.

But Charli on the other hand, got to do it all, especially dance which is her number one passion.

Charli’s health led Dixie to resent her sister for a period of time.

Alas, Dixie and Charli both sought help for their mental health and were able to strengthen their relationship.

“I didn’t realize how my mental health could affect so many people, but it kind of got me to get better,” she said.
