Prince William was recently featured in an episode of Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ show, “The Reluctant Traveler.”

During the discussion with Levy, the royal reflected on the importance of creating a loving environment for his children to grow up in. He noted that while he experienced it as a child, it didn’t last long because his parents divorced when he was eight.

William stressed how unhealthy it was to grow up amid all the negative tabloid attention surrounding his late mother, Princess Diana, and his father, King Charles III. Now that he has a family of his own, he is determined to ensure that they don’t go through what he did at the hands of the relentless media.

“I just want to do what’s best for my children, but I know that the drama and the stress when you’re small really affects you when you’re older,” he said, per Page Six, before adding:

“Growing up, I saw that with my parents. The media were so insatiable back then. It’s hard to think of it now, but they were much more insatiable. They wanted every bit of detail they could absorb, and they were in everything, literally everywhere. They would know things, they’d be everywhere.”

The 43-year-old prince noted that allowing negative media attention into his household would cause a certain level of damage that he “vowed” would never happen to his family.

“If you let that creep in, the damage it can do to your family life is something that I vowed would never happen to my family. And so, I take a very strong line about where I think that line is, and those who overstep it, I’ll fight against,” William told Levy.

He stressed the importance of sitting and talking with his children and revealed that they are not allowed to have cellphones. “None of our children have any phones, which we’re very strict about,” he said.

Rather than keeping their eyes glued to cellphones. Williams’ children find other ways to entertain themselves.

During Levy’s "Reluctant Traveler” episode, he asked William several questions, which led the prince to open up about his wife and King Charles’ cancer battles and several other family issues. However, he notably avoided asking him about his brother, Prince Harry.

As reported by The Blast, Levy later opened up about his decision to exclude Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the conversation. He noted that while there weren’t any restrictions on what he could or could not ask, he felt it was inappropriate to ask William about his brother.

“I had no interest in asking him about that, because it was, you know, a very delicate issue and certainly not up to me to get into it,” Levy said.

Amid his conversation with Levy, Prince William also opened up about the challenges he faced last year.  As The Blast reported earlier, he spoke about his wife, Kate Middleton’s battle with cancer, and how much it took a toll on him.

"I'd say '23-'24 was the hardest year I've ever had,” he said.

Middleton was diagnosed with cancer last year, and the illness required chemotherapy, which forced her to take a step back from the public eye. Williams’s father, King Charles, was also diagnosed with cancer, which made the entire situation “dreadful” for the Prince of Wales.

Despite the severity of it all, William noted that everything was a “test” and being able to overcome it all makes him who he is.
