Sean "Diddy" Combs doesn't want to serve his prison sentence in a maximum-security facility and has made a special request to the court to grant his desire.

The Bad Boy CEO was recently sentenced to slightly over four years in prison for prostitution offenses, which were the only charges he was convicted of in his sex crimes trial.

Diddy made an appeal to the court, offering reasons to support his request. The request also comes after his lawyer voiced concern that Sean "Diddy" Combs faces the threat of being shanked in prison.

Ahead of his transfer to begin serving his sentence for prostitution offenses,  music mogul Diddy has made a special request to be placed at FCI Fort Dix.

The request was submitted by his attorney, Teny Geragos, in a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, who presided over Diddy's sex crimes trial a few months ago.

The letter also detailed why Diddy was making the request, as it noted the facility was the best place for the rapper to "address drug abuse issues" and "maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts."

For now, it remains unclear whether the judge will grant Diddy's request and recommend FCI Fort Dix to the Bureau of Prisons or select an entirely different facility.

The final decision rests with the agency, which typically considers factors like the severity of the offense, the required security level, and the inmate's rehabilitation or programming needs.

While Diddy is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City, FCI Fort Dix is located in New Jersey, about 64 miles (103 kilometers) southwest of the Big Apple.

The facility is a low-security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp.

According to the Bureau of Prisons site, it only houses male offenders, with a total of just over 4000 inmates. Currently, 3896 inmates are located at the main facility, while the rest are at the satellite camp.

Over the years, FCI Fort Dix has hosted several high-profile inmates, including "Real Housewives of New Jersey" stars Teresa and Joe Giudice.

If Diddy's request is granted, members of his immediate family and relatives would be allowed to visit him. He could also receive approved visits from his attorneys and up to 10 friends or associates.

In August, one of Diddy's lawyers informed CNN in an interview that the team had requested a pardon from President Donald Trump.

"It's my understanding that we've reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon," Nicole Westmoreland told the outlet at the time.

The attorney also told the outlet that the rapper was "hopeful" he would receive one from the billionaire mogul he had crossed paths with during the 1990s and 2000s.

While it's unclear if Diddy's stance has changed since his sentencing, Trump has confirmed that the rapper did, in fact, ask him for a pardon.

"A lot of people have asked me for pardons," Trump said in an interview at the Oval Office on Monday, per ABC News. "I call him Puff Daddy, [he] has asked me for a pardon."

During sentencing, Judge Arun Subramanian explained why he imposed a stiff four-year, two-month prison term, which also included a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.

One of the main reasons was the repeated nature of Diddy's crimes and his history of violence toward former partners, including ex-girlfriend Cassandra "Cassie" Ventura, who testified during the trial.

However, his lawyers were displeased with the sentence and told reporters that the rapper was being unfairly punished for crimes he wasn't convicted of in his sex crimes trial.

Diddy Is Considering Appealing His Sentence

Diddy's lawyers also revealed that they are considering an appeal, despite Diddy having already received credit for the 12 months he has served at the MDC following his arrest in September 2024.

"That was totally inconsistent with the jury verdict. The judge acted as a 13th juror," attorney Alexandra Shapiro told ABC News. "The sentence was driven by the conduct the jury rejected. The jury acquitted Mr. Combs of any coercion."

"What is the point of more incarceration for a person like Mr. Combs? He really should be on a path to rehabilitation. He should be able to get treatment. He should be able to start giving back in a way that I think he is uniquely positioned to do, and it seems just senseless to keep him in prison for years more," she added later.
