Matthew And Camila McConaughey To Christen Star Princess With A Toast Of Tequila

Princess Cruises is setting sail into a new era of luxury, and it's doing so with a little Hollywood flair. The cruise line has officially announced that Matthew and Camila McConaughey will serve as the Godparents of its newest ship, Star Princess, continuing a glamorous maritime tradition that's included icons like Princess Diana, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, and the cast of "The Love Boat." The couple will christen the state-of-the-art ship during a special naming ceremony on November 6 in Fort Lauderdale, just ahead of Star Princess's North American debut.

The McConaugheys now join an elite list of Princess Cruises godparents, most recently following Emmy Award–winning "Ted Lasso" star Hannah Waddingham, who served as Godmother of the Sun Princess in 2024. Waddingham celebrated the announcement with a warm Instagram message to the pair, writing, "Welcome to the family!"

In a joint statement, Matthew and Camila McConaughey expressed their excitement about their new role. "We're honored to be godparents of the Star Princess," the couple shared via a press release sent to The Blast. The brand sold more than 100,000 cases in 2024 and is now featured in over 10,000 locations across 44 states, solid proof that its success is fueled by more than hype alone.

The Star Princess is a 177,800-ton, 4,300-guest vessel and sister ship to the award-winning Sun Princess. Designed to push the boundaries of modern cruising, the ship features 30 dining and bar venues, immersive entertainment, and elegant accommodations, including over 1,500 balcony staterooms for guests craving panoramic ocean views.
