Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli's marriage is haunted by the ghosts of their past misdeeds.

Sources close to the estranged couple are providing deeper insights into the havoc their college admission bribery scandal has wreaked on their marriage, including unfair blame games.

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli both served sentences in 2020 for their involvement in a scheme to induce university officials to admit their two daughters to the University of Southern California in 2019.

The estranged couple was left to deal with the aftermath of their involvement in the admission scandal, and the embarrassment of it all reportedly left a lasting impact on the direction of their marriage. 

The legal consequences of their involvement in the scheme also affected their professional lives, as an insider affirmed that Giannulli's fingers found his wife to be the primary cause of everything their family went through in 2020.

"Their marriage was very strong before the sh-t hit the fan with the college admissions scandal. That totally derailed it. His sales suffered. She lost Hallmark. They blamed each other, but he blamed her more," the source stated.

The insider added that Loughlin was blamed by her estranged husband because she was the brain behind the move, as she wanted to "do the rowing pictures."

Loughlin and her estranged husband reportedly paid a six-figure sum to arrange for their daughter to be recruited onto USC's rowing team, despite their lack of experience in the sport.

"You forget, the narrative was so terrible,' the source said. "They had the world, and it wasn't enough for them. Their daughters had privilege, and that wasn't enough for them. It was humiliating," the insider revealed to The Daily Mail.

While the family continues to nurse the wounds of the scandal, including the kids who feel terrible about their parents' split and the entire situation, Giannulli is picking up the pieces of his life. 

A source close to the family noted that although nothing is set in stone for the duo regarding finding other people, the odds are very much in favor of the fashion designer moving on first. In the insider's words:

"But I bet he finds another woman soon if he doesn't already have one. That just seems pretty much like what he'd do."

Their children, Olivia and Bella, have reportedly struggled to put the good old times behind them and watch their once-happy family collapse in the worst way. As for Loughlin, her close friendships have also suffered a significant blow from the scandal.

Since going to prison and working her way through the public disgrace, her connection with her Hollywood friends has dwindled. The actress and her estranged spouse could literally not catch a break from the social, emotional, and psychological impact of COVID and the legal drama that followed the same year.

By the middle of 2020, Loughlin and her fashion designer husband pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges, confirming that they had facilitated their children's admission to college through illicit means. 

As reported by The Blast, Loughlin was sentenced to two months in federal prison, accompanied by a $150,000 fine and 150 hours of community service.

Her sentence spanned from October to December 2020, while her husband was sentenced to a five-month jail term, a $250,000 fine, and 250 hours of community service.

He served the rest of his sentence in home confinement in April 2021. Speaking of home, the estranged couple listed their Hidden Hills property for sale in February. The 11,000-square-foot beauty was purchased for $9.5 million in 2020 and is now going for nearly double the price at $16.5 million.

Five years after her, she pled guilty, and the 61-year-old declared that her arrival from prison came with a lot of introspection, including a feeling of gratitude for a second chance to make things right.

The Blast reported that the actress described her experience as an opportunity to unlearn and relearn, which helped her gain a new sense of purpose.

While the media personality would turn back the hands of time without batting an eyelid if given the chance, she could live with the reality that the past is really in the past.

As part of her efforts to start a new chapter, Loughlin returned to television with a role in the police drama "On Call." The actress was thrilled to take on the challenge of the role, which was a departure from her usual television character.

The estranged couple's daughter revealed in a vlog back in July that Paris would be her new home for a while. She took her viewers on a tour of her new apartment and shared her content schedule while residing in the city of love.

"This is going to be such a fun adventure to film, and I'm here for a little while living. I'm really excited to share some videos with you. It's just going to be such an exciting, formative time," Olivia explained.

She shared her adventures so far, including attending two fashion shows, and hinted at starting a new business venture as the year advanced. Olivia had gotten candid in the past about the legal challenges her parents faced during an episode of the Red Table Talk in 2020.

She addressed the influx of criticism that targeted her family and how cancel culture affected them even after their release. "I'm not trying to victimize myself. I don't want pity… I just want a second chance to be like, 'I recognize I messed up," the influencer declared.
