Sean "Diddy" Combs was left visibly stunned in court as he received a four-year prison sentence on prostitution-related charges.

The music mogul and his attorneys had hoped for a lighter sentence of 14 months, with time already served expected to count toward it.

However, Judge Arun Subramanian, after reviewing victim impact statements, reference letters in Sean "Diddy" Combs' favor, and evidence from previously acquitted charges, ultimately handed down a harsher sentence.

The rapper's long-awaited sentencing finally took place on Friday, and the outcome was far from what the rapper had anticipated, per the Daily Mail.

He was sentenced to a four-year, two-month jail term for transportation to engage in prostitution offenses, charges he was found guilty of earlier this year.

The ruling reportedly left the rapper looking "frozen like a statue," as he seemingly couldn't believe he would be spending more time in jail despite the numerous reference letters from family members as well as fellow inmates who spoke positively about him.

His family was also seen looking devastated as they watched from the gallery of the Manhattan courtroom, where Judge Arun Subramanian delivered the sentence.

In addition to the jail term, Diddy will also be required to undergo five years of supervised release and pay a substantial fine of $500,000.

The judge also explained the reason behind his ruling, saying that Diddy caused" irreparable harm" to his victims and "deterrence requires a significant sentence."

During the hearing, the defense made several moves to persuade Judge Subramanian to go lenient on Diddy.

They argued that he was "not a pimp," despite what the prostitution charges suggested.

"Pimps seek out and recruit women with one sole intent: to prostitute them out to other people. He is not that man," said Diddy's lawyer, Xavier Donaldson, who also alluded to the rapper's drug addiction as the reason behind his antics.

"Before he started using drugs….when he was that person, he was focused, he was determined. He had this idealistic view of the world. That person still exists," he continued.

Later on, Diddy's lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, attempted to sway Judge Subramanian by arguing that the rapper's misconduct stemmed in part from childhood trauma.

The lawyer also said it was linked to a range of alleged mental health struggles.

Agnifilo also urged the judge to take into account that the sentencing coincided with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

He claimed that Diddy's case had, in its own way, contributed to raising public awareness about domestic violence.

While giving their rebuttal, the prosecution took aim at Diddy's lawyers' claims that he is not a pimp.

"Really, what are pimps? Pimps exploit and control their victims. That's what the defendant did here," said Prosecutor Christy Slavik.

Slavik also called the music mogul a "master puppeteer of his own image" and went on to describe how he does this.

"He uses his wealth and power to portray a very specific image to the world, but that image is incomplete and misleading," she said.

Slavik further stated that, despite Diddy's show of remorse, he can't be trusted and remains unchanged.

"You can't trust his words," the lawyer argued. "This case shows (that) behind closed doors, he wasn't helping others, he was exploiting and violently abusing them."

After the back-and-forth between the defense and prosecution, Diddy was given a chance to speak.

He began by fumbling his words before delivering a detailed statement filled with apologies to those he had hurt.

"One of the hardest things I've had to handle is having to be quiet - not being able to express how sorry I am for my actions," the rapper said. "I want to personally apologize again to Cassie Ventura for any harm or hurt I've caused her emotionally or physically."

Diddy also apologized to his other accusers, including the anonymous woman known as Jane, whose testimony played a significant role in his conviction, much like that of Cassie Ventura.
