Eric Dane isn't throwing in the towel on the fight against ALS despite his most recent sighting in a wheelchair.
The "Grey's Anatomy" star addressed his health and zeal to keep pushing against the progressive neurodegenerative disease in a new interview, stressing that he had hoped to live his life to the fullest amid the heartbreaking condition.
Eric Dane announced his ALS diagnosis in April, noting he wouldn't retire and continue acting before it was too late.
Eric Dane Expresses Will To Beat His Neurodegenerative Disease

Dane declared war on ALS in an interview with California congressman Eric Swalwell, expressing his desire to beat the disease and "ring every bell" with his two daughters. "I wanna see them graduate college, get married, maybe have grandkids," the actor confessed.
"I wanna be there for all that. So, I'm gonna fight until the last breath on this one," Dane added. He sat down with the politician to discuss federal funding for the progressive neurodegenerative disease with doctors and representatives from the I Am ALS organization.
Dane used his experience to shed light on the suffering of those in similar situations, noting that ALS was the last thing anyone should be diagnosed with. The Daily Mail reported that he emphasized the importance of the Act for ALS, claiming "it broadens the access for everybody" with the debilitating condition.

Dane's declaration to fight ALS until the bitter end followed reports of his worsening condition. The Blast covered the story, reporting that an insider claimed the actor hasn't been in the best shape since his "devastating" diagnosis.
The insider alleged the debilitating symptoms had begun affecting Dane's life, especially muscle weakness and a decline in physical function. He was most recently spotted looking frail in a wheelchair as he exited an airport in Washington, D.C.
The insider added that Dane was putting on a brave face despite the heartbreaking situation, noting he also struggled to articulate his words.
His speech issues were evident when a reporter asked him to pass a message to fans. Nonetheless, the TV personality's positivity remained, and he implored fans to "keep the faith."
The Hollywood Heartthrob Knows 'Tomorrow Isn't Promised'

The insider noted that Dane was leaning on his family and Jewish faith to get him through the health ordeal; however, the strong support system wasn't enough to ease his fears. They claimed his health had worsened to the point where the actor knew death was near.
"He wants to enjoy what he has now, because he now knows with his full heart that tomorrow isn't promised," the insider added. On that note, they claimed Dane wished to focus on the present and live his life to the fullest, despite the neurodegenerative disease.
The insider stated that Dane did not want his loved ones to worry about him and hoped they could be happy together, as he wanted to be surrounded by positivity. Unfortunately, it was pretty challenging for his family to grant this wish.
Rebecca Gayheart Addresses The Impacts Of Her Husband's ALS Diagnosis

Dane's wife, Rebecca Gayheart, opened up about the impacts of his ALS diagnosis on their family. The Blast reported that she addressed the challenging situation in an interview, confessing it had taken a toll on her and her two daughters.
“I mean, it's heartbreaking. My girls are really suffering, and we're just trying to get through it. It's a tough time,” Gayheart lamented. She added that she wasn't in a place where she could be “a positive nugget” and hoped a cure for ALS would be discovered soon.
The only silver lining in the devastating situation was the end of Gayheart and Dane’s divorce proceedings. They called off the legal matter, which began in 2018, shortly after the entertainer announced his ALS diagnosis.
Eric Dane Is Upset By His Possible Death

The Blast shared Dane's confessions about his progressive disease in June, noting he was upset by his ALS diagnosis and possible death. The actor was angry because he hoped to spend more time with his two teenage daughters.
Dane feared subjecting his children to the same trauma he endured after losing his father at a young age. He confessed that it was hard to deny the impacts of the neurodegenerative condition, recalling how his mobility failed him during a snorkeling trip.
When the Hollywood heartthrob announced his diagnosis in April, he did so positively, declaring his health wouldn't determine the end of his career. Dane noted that he was fortunate to be able to continue working and expressed excitement about returning to the set of the "Euphoria" series.
Here's to hoping Eric Dane makes all his dreams a reality!
