Rob's reclusive lifestyle made headlines early this year when The Blast reported that a source claimed his mother wasn't a fan of his choices. The source claimed Kris wanted her only son to stop hiding and return to their family's reality TV series.

"It's the biggest heartbreak of her life, and she's desperate to convince him to come out of his shell," the source alleged. They claimed Kris never imagined Rob would lock himself indoors after stepping away from reality TV.

Another insider claimed that Rob barely spent time with his other siblings, except for Khloé, noting that he was closer to his immediate older sister than the rest. Her home was the only place he reportedly visited outside his residence, and he frequently visited her with his daughter, Dream.

The Blast shared in May that living as a recluse had not stopped Rob from finding love. A source claimed he was secretly dating a mystery woman, whose identity was kept under wraps, even from his family.

The source alleged that Rob prioritized privacy because of the trauma he endured during his days in the spotlight. On that note, they claimed his family would have little knowledge about his new romance because he didn't want them to blow his cover.

Rob wasn't the type to hide his relationships in the past and publicly dated actress Adrienne Bailon from 2007 to 2009. He had a brief romance with Angela Simmons in 2010 before moving on with singer Rita Ora. He was also engaged to Blac Chyna, but their relationship ended acrimoniously.
