After pleading guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge last month, Jay Cutler has begun serving his short jail sentence, as ordered by the judge.

The former NFL star is expected to remain in jail for the next few days and will attend a DUI safety course following his release. He has also received additional consequences for the incident, including a small fine and having his driver's license revoked for one year.

Earlier this month, Jay Cutler was also sued by the other driver involved in the incident, who claimed that Cutler was at fault for the collision.

Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler has reported to a Tennessee jail to begin serving a short sentence for his DUI incident from October 17, 2024.

According to TMZ Sports, Cutler arrived at Williamson County Jail on the morning of September 29, though it is unclear if he was accompanied by anyone.

He was quickly booked and placed in a cell, where he is expected to remain until Friday of this week.

The sentence was part of the verdict Cutler received last month when he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge.

He was also handed down a small fine of $350, alongside one year of supervised probation, which, if violated, could result in additional penalties.

During the DUI incident, Cutler reportedly rear-ended another vehicle and allegedly offered the driver $2,000 to avoid involving the police, per TMZ.

When police eventually arrived, officers quickly noticed that Cutler was exhibiting all the typical signs of intoxication, including the smell of alcohol, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and unsteady movements.

Initially, he denied having consumed any alcohol, a statement he later recanted, admitting he had only a small amount to drink that day.

When asked to take a sobriety test, Cutler refused, which then prompted police to place him under arrest.

During the search of his vehicle, police also found a rifle in the backseat and a loaded Glock handgun in the center console. This led to additional charges for possession of a firearm while under the influence, but Cutler's plea deal appears to have resolved the charge.

In the near future, Cutler may have to pay additional money due to the incident, as he was recently sued by one of the drivers he rear-ended, according to TMZ.

The individual, Perry Lee, filed a lawsuit against the former Chicago Bears star earlier this month, claiming that the ex-football player was "at fault for the collision."

In the filing, Lee also explained why he believes the ex-NFL star is at fault, noting that Cutler was tailgating his car and not paying attention to the road. Lee further claimed that Cutler failed to exercise "reasonable and due care" while allegedly under the influence.

According to Lee's lawyers, John Morgan and Sydney Pierce, the injuries he suffered from the incident "cause him daily pain and have eroded his quality of life."

Lee is also said to be facing mounting medical bills, which his attorneys believe Cutler should be held responsible for.

In his personal life, Cutler has also been involved in a recurring back-and-forth with his ex, Kristin Cavallari.

The two were married for seven years and welcomed three children, Camden, 13; Jaxon, 11; and Saylor, 9, before splitting in April 2020.

In their most recent dispute, Cutler accused his ex-wife of claiming that she "never got a penny" following the end of their marriage.

"I think it's reckless. I think it's borderline slander to insinuate that there was zero dollars split during the marriage that each side got," Cutler said during his appearance on the "Take It Outside" podcast.

During his rant about his ex-wife's claims, Cutler dismissed her remarks as "false," stating that he dislikes having to discuss them.

"It's insanity and it's completely false, completely untrue. I hate that I even have to address it, honestly," Cutler stated.

While the former NFL star didn't reveal how much he gave Cavallari, he did mention that he had proof of it.

"I've got a divorce decree. I've got something that's signed by the judge -it's, like, 67 pages [and] it says the number breakdown," Cutler noted, per The Blast.
