Teresa Giudice has been extremely forthcoming about her time in prison, often revealing that her sole focus was serving her time and getting released. However, in a new interview, the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star admits that she nearly got into altercations with some inmates, explaining they'd give her "dirty" looks while she was behind bars. Despite the tension, Giudice says she left the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Danbury, Connecticut, with several solid friendships, which may have been the only redeeming part of her 11-month sentence.
Teresa Giudice Says A Few Of The Inmates In Prison Might've Had Problems With Her
Speaking with Nick Viall on his popular podcast, "The Viall Files," Giudice answered a few questions about her time behind bars, saying that "everyone was really nice" to her.
Well, except for a few.
"I mean, listen, there was a few girls that would give me a dirty look. And I was like, ‘Really, you don’t want to do that.’ You know? I’m like, ‘I’m really pissed off that I’m here and you don’t — like, don’t even come near me,'" she revealed.
Giudice explained that she often "kept to myself;" however, she created a few meaningful bonds with some of her fellow inmates, sharing that she recently met some of them for lunch.
"I was friendly with everyone," she added. "Everyone was so nice to me. And I hate to always talk about this, that just to say it, 'cause it's, I don't want it to define me."
Why Did Teresa Giudice Go To Prison?

According to a previous report from The Blast, Giudice and her ex-husband, Joe Giudice, were sentenced to 15 and 41 months in federal prison in 2014 after being convicted of various fraud charges, including one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.
"The Giudices together deceived financial institutions with patently false loan applications; were dishonest when they sought the protection of the bankruptcy court and hid assets and income from the trustee; and Giuseppe Giudice cheated the government by failing to pay taxes on years of significant income," U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said. "When they pleaded guilty, both admitted swearing to statements they knew were lies. Prison is the appropriate penalty for these serious financial crimes."
Teresa Giudice Applied For Faulty Mortgages

The legal documents revealed that the Giudices had falsified numerous financial records between 2001 and 2008 to obtain hundreds of thousands of dollars in mortgages and other loans.
In 2001, for example, the reality star applied for a $121,500 mortgage, and in 2005, she applied for a $361,250 mortgage, claiming she earned over $15,000 a month.
To back up her claims, the "House of Villains" star and mother of four submitted fraudulent W-2 forms and pay stubs.
And the lies didn't stop there. In 2009, the now-divorced couple filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection; however, legal documents noted that the pair "intentionally concealed business they owned, income they received from a rental property," as well as income from the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" and magazine bookings.
Giudice Recalls One 'Good' Thing Coming Out Of Her Prison Stint
During a previous episode of the "Casual Chaos" podcast, Giudice described what was going through her mind when she first realized that she and her ex-husband were facing legal woes.
“When it all happened, I didn’t know. I thought it was all a joke. For me anyway,” she shared. “With [Joe], obviously, I knew. For the government to come knocking on your door, there was something going on.”
Despite the madness, however, Giudice revealed that she was able to take away at least one positive thing from her experience.
“I was never arrested, never handcuffed, never shackled,” Giudice said. “Thank you, God. At least that was one good thing.”
Giudice Is Starring In A New Reality Show

Also on "The Viall Files," Giudice implored fans to tune in to season 4 of Fox's "Special Forces" to cheer on her and her daughter, Gia Giudice. She first posted about her experience on the intense competition series in late August 2025, calling it the "toughest challenge" of her life.
In another post, the "Real Housewives" OG teased more of what's to come, writing, "You’ve seen us on Bravo, but this is a whole new level—no glam, no comfort, just pure grit."
Other Bravo stars that are part of the season 4 cast include Eva Marcille from "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and Brittany Cartwright from "Vanderpump Rules" and "The Valley."
