Elton John Extending Farewell Tour
By TheBlast Staff on June 24, 2021 at 8:40 PM EDT
At 74 years old, music legend Elton John is ready to say goodbye to live shows. At least that's what seemed to be happening when he announced his “Elton John Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour.”. If you haven't heard a lot about the tour in recent dates it may be because Sir Elton has been on this farewell run since 2018.
Recently it was announced that he would be adding North American dates to the tour. Elton John seems keen to ensure that anyone who wants to go see him gets a chance to.

We mentioned that Elton was ready to say goobye to live shows. At this point though the final date of his farewell tour is set to take place in New Zeland in 2023. It's highly unlikely that the New Zeland date will end up being his last.
There's a good chance that Elton would want to have a final concert at Wembley in London or another venue that may be a little bit more representative of his career. In 2023 though, Elton John will be turning 76. We'll have to wait and see how he is physically at that point.

Obviously Elton John is looking to say goobye to his American audience before he closes the curtain on his ilustrious career. Elton is set to take the stage at Madison Square Garden in February 2022 as part of the farewell tour.
Later in 2022 though he's going to go on the FYBR Stadium Tour. Which is kind of odd. It seems like his farewell tour is just the name of the tour, but he really doesn't have a clear intention of retiring. In the stadium tour he's set to visit Soldier Field, Gillete Stadium, Doger Stadium. That tour will take on the US in mid to late 2022.
What Type of Show Can You Expect To See?

Sir Elton himself spoke about the type of show that fans are going to expect to see. He did insist that these tour dates are intended to be his last time on this side of the Atlantic. Again, he's been on this farewell run for a while so you can take that with a grain of salt. On the shows themselves he mentioned,
“I’m going to go out in the biggest possible way, performing at my very best, with the most spectacular production I’ve ever had, playing in places that have meant so much to me throughout my career.”
