Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's Daughter Violet's Passionate U.N. Speech Has Fans Saying She 'Takes After Her Dad'

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s daughter is a star in the making, or at least that’s what fans are saying.  Violet Affleck recently delivered a moving speech about the long-term effects of COVID-19 in a U.N. address. 

Fans online reacted to the speech, saying that the 19-year-old took after her parents’ creativity and passion for change. 

Violet Affleck took the stand at the United Nations on Tuesday, September 23, speaking about the effects of long COVID-19. 

Clad in a K95 mask, the youngster emphasized the importance of masking to prevent the transmission of long COVID-19 and urged people to take more precautions in their day-to-day lives. 

Violet didn’t stop there; she pointed fingers at leaders and adults who were not treating the matter with as much urgency as they should. 

“We are told by leaders across the board that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes,” she said passionately. 

She then rebuked them for “the relentless beat of back to normal, ignoring, downplaying, and concealing both the prevalence of airborne transmission and the threat of long COVID,” per People Magazine.

“Young people lacked both real choice in the matter and information about what was being chosen for us,” she added. 

The filmmaker’s daughter detailed the causative virus of COVID-19 and its long-term effects on cells in the brain, heart, blood vessels, and nerves.

She expressed fear for infected children whose lives will be altered by the effects of the disease, and urged people to stand up in the public health fight for better clean air infrastructure and mask availability. 

Violet Affleck’s passionate statements did not go unnoticed. Fans online poured out support for her speech, writing that they were impressed to see her speaking up. 

“She is an impressive young woman. Glad to see her speaking up,” one fan wrote.

“Brilliant and moving. Bravo to #VioletAffleck! Her parents must be so proud. She is spot on, and I hope people start to listen to her and her generation,” another fan penned.

One user noted, “She takes after her dad when it comes to writing,” while another user wrote that “Jennifer and Ben should be proud.”

One fan pointed out the striking similarities between Violet and her mother, and another urged “nepo babies” to emulate Violet’s steps instead of “filming nextgennyc and arguing over borrowed headphones.” 

“It would be great if her own parents could show her some solidarity and mask with her,” another user remarked. 

This is not the first time Violet has advocated for change. 

As an activist for climate change, she has always been vocal about her passions and even got into a heated argument with her mother about the destructive L.A. fires that ravaged homes in January. 

Violet, a freshman at Yale University, penned an essay for the Yale Global Health Review, focusing on the role climate change played in the L.A. fires. 

In the piece, the actress’s daughter wrote that she “spent the January fires in Los Angeles arguing with my mother in a hotel room.” 

The young activist noted that her mother was surprised by the fires, and she was “surprised at her surprise,” which was ultimately the root of their contention. 

In Violet’s essay, she noted that she couldn't help but notice how much society “manhandled” the disaster. 

She recalled speaking with adults in the hotel where she was staying with her mother. During the discussion, she observed how people spoke about the fires as an isolated event rather than a problem directly connected to the bigger issue – climate change. 

As reported by The Blast, the actor’s daughter further described climate change as an “existential and accelerating” problem that needs urgent attention. 

As Violet continues to remain outspoken about climate change and other societal crises, she is supported by her large blended family. 

Violet is one of three children Affleck shares with his ex-wife, Garner. 

When Affleck married Jennifer Lopez, his children developed a good relationship with the actress’s children. Now, even after the two finalized their divorce in January, their children continue to remain in close contact with each other. 

According to The Blast, an insider revealed that “the kids are still really close. They have the same groups of friends, they see each other, and they talk all the time.”
