With her dominance on the court, leadership in the locker room, and influence in the game of basketball, she's raising the bar for what it means to be the greatest. Building her dynasty one accolade, stat line, and award at a time, Wilson is writing a legacy that will echo far beyond her career.

When the first social media post dropped about Wilson winning MVP Sunday morning, it didn't take long for tons more followed. There are videos of Wilson being handed the award by her boyfriend NBA player Bam Adebayo, her dad and Aces owner Mark Davis wearing pink wigs posing for a pic with her, her mom looking like the proud mom that she is standing by her MVP daughter, and of course, some of her teammates and coach Becky Hammon celebrating the humble, grateful 2025 MVP.

"They counted us out, wrote us all off, but we showed up every single day and we worked our a-ses off. We worked our a-ses off and this has my name on it and it's gonna be there but this one is all of us. There is no that without each and every last one of you guys and I just want to thank y'all so much for just putting up with me for one, but also never losing yourselves through this process. We've been through it but we never lost hope and belief in each other and that's what makes this so special. I just can't thank you guys enough."

She thanked everyone from her teammates to the front office for "always betting on us."

It's an amazing feeling to be a fan of something, anything, but there's a special feeling that goes into being a fan of a sports team or player.

The energy in Las Vegas at an Aces game is undeniable - it's intense, it's a feeling of belonging, it's pure happiness mixed with a level of excitement that's hard to describe. If you walk into Michelob ULTRA Arena not really being a fan of the Aces, or the WNBA, you will most certainly walk out as one. Don't believe me? Just scroll on TikTok a bit and you'll see all the videos from fan perspectives.

I've been a basketball fan for as long as I can remember. Two of my sons, ages 19 and 20, are diehard NBA fans who have also taken an interest in the WNBA in recent years. While I can share my opinion on Wilson, I think it's already obvious, so I asked my 20-year-old son, Ryder, his thoughts, as we've talked a lot about the Aces and Wilson this season.

"It's really impressive to be the first four-time MVP in WNBA history, but on top of that, she's also a back-to-back MVP," he shared. "Even more impressive is that she's been able to get four MVPs before turning 30, on top of all her other awards."

Fellow Blast writer, Jacquez Printup, who, like me, is a diehard WNBA fan, shared his thoughts on Wilson's MVP award.

"A'ja's fourth MVP win, though, is only proof that she's the greatest this league has ever seen (and likely will see for a LONG time)," he shared. "I always thought she was worthy of the title, but after the slow start to the season, I did start to count her and the rest of the Aces out. But to see what she's done and how she's helped lead her team back to where they are today is something special. They don't call her the GOAT for nothing!"

'Every Trophy Tells A Story'

Wilson was asked to walk us through "what each MVP has meant" to her when she won it.

Her first one was an "awkward year" during the pandemic in 2020. She said "a lot of people weren't playing and we were in a different space." She added that she wanted "more."

Her second one was in 2022.

"That was our first kind of moving and grooving year," she said. "That kind of brought life into my career and had a sense of like, I belong here."

She said 2024 was special because of an "incredible" season. Wilson went on to discuss this year's "special" MVP.

"It's special because I felt like I couldn't win an odd year, so it's pretty dope to have one in an odd year," she said. "But also the things we went through as a team. Everyone counted us out, no one expected us to be where we are today. We showed up and we as a team are showing out for each other. So this one is pretty special because this one definitely is my team. I give this one to my team."
