Kamala Harris has accused the Donald Trump administration of infringing on the American citizens' freedom of speech.

Her criticism comes after the sudden cancellation of the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show on September 17, 2025, following host Jimmy Kimmel's controversial comments on Charlie Kirk's alleged shooter.

ABC's decision to take the show off the air has stirred a wave of reactions among Hollywood, politicians, and fans.

Without mincing words in a post on X, the 49th Vice President of the United States spoke against the actions of the current administration.

"What we are witnessing is an outright abuse of power," she started. Harris stated that the administration was trying to silence anyone who stood against them.

"This administration is attacking critics and using fear as a weapon to silence anyone who would speak out," she accused. The former attorney general pointed out that every media outlet was giving in to this "weapon."

Harris then urged the citizens not to keep silent or succumb to this injustice, which she described as an "assault" on their freedom. "We, the People, deserve better," she concluded.

Harris' pushback was not without basis. On Monday night, during his show, television host Jimmy Kimmel made comments to his audience about the alleged shooter of the popular conservative.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it," he said, as reported by The Blast.

This remark led the chief of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, to suggest in an interview the idea of suspending Kimmel's show until he apologizes and clears up the matter.

Carr's words must have resonated in certain rooms, as a spokesperson for ABC stated that the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show was suspended "indefinitely."

VP Harris isn't the politician to voice displeasure over the suspension of Kimmel's show. Former President Barack Obama shared similar sentiments, admitting the Trump administration's actions took him aback.

According to The Blast, the 44th President noted that the administration had made the issue of "cancelling" people even worse, "to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn't like."

Echoing Harris' words, Obama urged the media outlets to buck up and not give in. "Media companies need to start standing up rather than capitulating to it," he encouraged.

While Obama and Harris were displeased with ABC's action, it was a good day in office for the POTUS.

As reported by The Blast, President Trump did not bother containing his joy, writing, "Great news for America: The ratings-challenged Jimmy Kimmel show is CANCELLED."

He continued by congratulating ABC and calling them brave for "doing what had to be done." The President went on to berate the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show and its host. Enjoying the moment and basking in the euphoria, Trump encouraged other networks to follow suit with their late-night hosts.

"That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it, NBC!!!" Trump wrote.

Kimmel's show was suspended just a few hours before the next episode was set to go live. Inside reports, according to The Blast, reveal that the show's host did not take the network's decision lightly.

"Jimmy is p-ssed over the decision to suspend him and the show," they shared. There are talks that this marked the end of the road between Kimmel and the network as he was "actively looking for ways to get out of his contract."

The fans and audience were equally stunned by the suspension. According to sources, staff members reportedly did not know what to do after the sudden cancellation. A producer compared the staff's confusion to that of cows, saying they were "wandering around like aimless cows."
