Todd Chrisley Reacts After Chase’s Bedroom Proposal Gets Rejected

The Chrisley family is once again facing reality TV drama, and this time it is centered on Chase Chrisley’s love life.

The “Chrisley Knows Best” alum recently proposed to his girlfriend Jodi Laine Fournerat, but things didn’t go the way he expected. Fournerat turned him down, sparking questions from fans and family alike.

Now, family patriarch Todd Chrisley is speaking out, sharing his feelings about his son’s future and the woman who may one day join their famous family.

Todd didn’t hold back when asked about Chase Chrisley’s surprise proposal and Fournerat’s reaction.

While the rejection may have caught everyone off guard, he admitted that what he really wanted was for his son to build a life filled with love and stability.

“I want him to have a wonderful, beautiful personal life with a relationship that feeds his soul,” the 65-year-old explained per E! News during the Sept. 16 episode of “The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.”

He added, “With someone that is going to be a wonderful mother to his children, that’s going to be a great wife. Someone that I’m gonna like, that’s important.”

However, when it comes to Chase’s girlfriend, Todd made it clear he didn’t know her very well.

“Jodi was there the day that we got home, but that was five minutes I think that I spoke to her,” he said. “There’s been really no interaction between us and Jodi.”

So what actually happened? According to Fournerat, the proposal came out of nowhere and left her shocked.

Recalling the incident to her boyfriend’s grandmother, Faye Chrisley, the 30-year-old shared per E! News,

“Chase was in the shower, and he was like, ‘Hey, we need to talk whenever I get out the shower.’ And I was like, ‘Oh gosh, okay.’”

Once he got dressed, Chase sat her down in their bedroom.

“He starts off by saying, ‘You know how much I love you right?’ And immediately I said, ‘What did you do?’”

That’s when the reality TV star got down on one knee and pulled something out of his pocket.

“I knew immediately, so I turned around so that I wouldn’t see the ring or anything,” she revealed. “And I was like, ‘Chase, get up.’”

Instead of a dream-come-true moment, she stopped him in his tracks. “We’re not doing this right here, we’re not doing this right now,” she told him.

Fournerat later explained that she wasn’t rejecting Chase Chrisley himself, only the way he popped the question.

She said the timing and location weren’t right and admitted that she wanted something more memorable than a rushed bedroom moment.

Although Chase grew upset when she stopped him, she reassured him that she wasn’t turning him down as a partner but simply turning down “the environment.”

Fournerat told viewers that she loved Chase and wanted their proposal story to feel special, not something thrown together right after a shower.

She emphasized again that her feelings for the TV personality hadn’t changed, but she wanted the memory to reflect how much they meant to each other.

Even Faye, who heard about the proposal, admitted she found the situation a little strange and joked that it was “kinda crazy.”

The couple’s relationship has also been shaped by Chase Chrisley’s complicated dynamic with his family.

Fournerat confessed that she often felt judged by association and believed that some relatives had formed opinions about her without really getting to know her.

She felt linked to the tensions Chase has with his sister, Savannah, and wondered if she wasn’t what the family “wanted her to be.”

Despite the struggles, Fournerat made it clear she wanted to change that.

She expressed hope that she would eventually build her own bond with the Chrisleys and show them that she was serious about the 29-year-old.

According to her, she was willing to put in the effort to prove that she’s more than just someone caught in the middle of family disagreements.

Although the bedroom proposal didn’t go as planned, Fournerat joked that “anything’s better than that” and seemed optimistic about a do-over.

She said the next proposal would definitely be better and looked forward to it.

For Chase, the rejection may have stung at first, but the two remain committed to making their relationship work.

Meanwhile, Todd continues to stress that he wants his son to be with someone who will be a great partner for life.

While he hasn’t yet formed a strong relationship with his son’s partner, Todd said his hope is that Chase’s love life leads to lasting happiness.
