The internet is done withNick Cannon after his recent confessions about how he became the father of 12 children.
The "Wild 'n Out" star sparked social media outrage following what many saw as yet another reason to cancel him. He became the internet's punching bag for implying he welcomed multiple children with different women because of his past trauma.
Nick Cannon has fathered 12 children with six women; however, only 11 are living. One of his sons, Zen, was diagnosed with brain cancer and died at five months old in December 2021.
Nick Cannon Claims He Was 'Careless' In Welcoming Children

During a September 15 appearance on "The Breakfast Club," Cannon got candid about fatherhood and how he hadn't healed from past traumas before welcoming 12 children. He confessed the journey started from a place of pain, and he should have done "the inner work" before having kids.
When asked if he meant his children were a response to his past trauma, Cannon agreed. He stressed that he wasn't acting out by having multiple kids, saying, "It was more of being careless, being frivolous with my process because I could do it."
Cannon noted he had the wealth and "the access to whoever and however" he wanted to move. Nonetheless, at nearly 45, he realized he could have done things differently if he had healed correctly and been more mature. The Blast added that he insisted his children were born out of love, despite his traumas.
The 'Drumline' Star Noted Healing Should Have Followed His Divorce

When asked if healing would have stopped him from fathering 12 children, Canon confessed that he wasn't sure. He noted that his children were born out of love while he was in "strong relationships" with their respective mothers.
Despite his words, he suspected that things might have been different if he had chosen to heal after his high-profile marriage to Mariah Carey. "If I would have did the work [and] the healing after getting divorced, I probably would have took my time in a lot of other scenarios," Cannon said.
The comedian noted he believed he had time to fix his problems while in new relationships, but he had since seen the error of his ways. "Now, you're leaving trauma every step of the way instead of fixing it from its origin," Cannon lamented.

The interview sparked heated reactions from fans on X, who slammed Cannon for spouting BS about his children. Someone shared a meme of Oprah Winfrey shrugging in resignation, alongside the words:
"Nick Cannon saying all those kids were a trauma response and he was acting out cuz he could. Women everywhere."
Another agreed, claiming Cannon was "proof that you don't need to tell the internet everything." The X user felt sorry for his kids, imagining how they would feel grown up and learning their father had them as a trauma response.
"Get a journal sir - not everything is a testimony," the fan stressed. A third noted Cannon had admitted "he's a horrible man, father, and person quite often (Even a self-admitted narcissist)." Someone added that Cannon was part of the group who used "bad decisions as a gateway for a diagnosis."
The Comedian Walked Back A Previous Comment About His Ex-Wife

Weeks before being called out for his comments, The Blast reported that Cannon had done a complete 180 about his marriage to Carey. He admitted on his "Nick Cannon @ Night" podcast in August that his union with the Songbird Supreme was based on mutual respect.
Cannon claimed he was a supportive husband, stating that he knew when "to be the man and buck up for a second" or "to fall back." He stressed that he was confident in who he was, implying that he wasn't insecure about Carey's massive success and influence.
The TV personality's words were a stark contrast to his 2024 confessions when he opened up about struggling with his masculinity and identity as "Mariah's man."
He noted that the hierarchy in their marriage became unclear after they welcomed twins, recalling how he would hold her purse and the diaper bag while his then-wife acted as the alpha.
Nick Cannon Doesn't Like Labels

Last month, Cannon revealed he wasn't a fan of labels during an episode of his podcast. The Blast covered the story, reporting that he disliked terms like "baby mamas" and "co-parenting" because they could be dangerous.
The podcaster explained that he preferred "parenting" to "co-parenting" because the latter made one party form preconceived ideas about the other's actions. Instead, Cannon believed stepping into "every situation with respect and compassion and individuality" was the right way to handle things.
The same rule applied to the women with whom he welcomed 12 children, noting he did not categorize them as his "baby mamas." Cannon emphasized that it was crucial to treat each of them as an individual with respect and compassion, rather than categorizing them under one label.
