FBI Director Kash Patel revealed that suspect Tyler Robinson shared how he planned to shoot Charlie Kirk, later justifying it as "hatred cannot be negotiated with."

DNA evidence now ties Robinson to the weapon, and prosecutors plan to pursue first-degree murder charges, possibly with the death penalty.

While AG Pam Bondi praised the FBI's swift work, critics accused Kash Patel of mishandling the case, noting Tyle Robinson was turned in by his father for allegedly shooting Charlie Kirk.

FBI Director Kash Patel on Monday disclosed a disturbing text message that may shed light on the motive behind the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

During an interview on Fox News' "Hannity," Patel said investigators uncovered a message from the suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, in which he allegedly wrote that "he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and he was going to do that."

When pressed on his reasoning, Robinson reportedly replied, "Some hatred cannot be negotiated with."

According to the New York Post, Patel added that additional evidence, including witness statements, indicated Robinson effectively admitted responsibility for the killing. However, he stopped short of elaborating on specific details, saying he would not "stylize the evidence," but that "information will come out."

He also confirmed that DNA collected from a towel wrapped around the firearm matched the suspect, directly linking him to the weapon used in the shooting.

The FBI director noted that Robinson is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, where he faces formal charges in Kirk's death.

When asked whether investigators are considering the possibility of a larger conspiracy, Patel confirmed that the inquiry remains active.

"We're dedicating every asset we have to run the reverse daisy chain analysis of anyone that was in contact with the suspect that's currently in custody and anyone he contacted, called, and text-messaged, and had chats on online social media platforms with," he explained.

As part of this effort, Patel noted agents are preparing to interview dozens of people who communicated with Robinson on Discord and other online platforms. Investigators have also secured multiple search warrants to review those conversations.

"We seized multiple electronic devices from the home of the suspect and his romantic partner," the FBI chief said. "We've got computers, we've got laptops, gaming systems, we've got cellphones."

He added, "All of that is being triaged by the FBI, because that's what we do. And the resources that the attorney general has dedicated to this mission are allowing us to move at the speed we have."

Attorney General Pam Bondi, appearing alongside Patel on the "Hannity" broadcast, praised the bureau's swift and coordinated response to the Kirk shooting investigation. "The FBI worked long and hard from Day One," Bondi said, calling the effort "great police work."

She highlighted the close collaboration between federal agents and local authorities, adding: "They worked hand in hand with the local agencies, and then they gave the gun to [the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives], ATF got the DNA off the firearm, and the DNA matched the defendant in this case."

Looking ahead, Bondi said prosecutors in Utah are preparing to formally charge Robinson with first-degree murder "most likely tomorrow or later this week." She added that the state is expected to pursue the death penalty, a punishment still enforced in Utah, where firing squads remain a legal method of execution.

In addition to state proceedings, Bondi said federal prosecutors are reviewing the case to determine whether federal charges are also warranted. "If we do, we will also indict and work hand in hand with the state to ensure that this horrible human being faces the maximum extent of the law," she stated.

Meanwhile, Patel has come under heavy fire for his handling of the Kirk investigation, with critics pointing out that Robinson was only taken into custody after his own father turned him in.

Prominent conservatives have accused the FBI Director of mismanaging the case, highlighting what they described as three failed arrest attempts before Robinson was finally captured, nearly 44 hours after Kirk was killed.

Christopher Rufo, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, voiced sharp criticism on X, writing that it was "time for Republicans to assess whether Kash Patel is the right man to run the FBI."

He further argued that Patel "performed terribly in the last few days, and it's not clear whether he has the operational expertise to investigate, infiltrate, and disrupt the violent movements — of whatever ideology — that threaten the peace in the United States."

Other supporters rallied to Patel's defense online, stressing that the FBI did a good job capturing the alleged killer within two days.

The account, "Pro America Politics," posted on X: "We aren't firing Kash Patel. Stop. The FBI arrested this killer within 48 hours. This was an excellent job. I have a 100% faith in Kash Patel."
