What Did Jones Say To Hurts During Week 2 Of 2025 NFL Season?

When Hurts and the rest of the Eagles team were preparing to take a knee at the end of the game, Jones slammed the Oklahoma alum and attempted to discredit his performance.

"You didn't even have 100 yards!" Jones yelled, to which Hurts replied, "We won the f-cking game, shut your a-s up."

The reaction to the video was largely lighthearted, with many fans laughing about how unserious the moment appeared to be.

"Bragging about stats in a loss is crazy, not gonna lie," someone wrote. "Jalen Hurts broke fraudulent Kansas City lmao," someone else posted.

"Talking about yards on the other side of a victory formation—where's the shame," a third user posted. And a fourth corrected Jones' comment about Hurts' stat, saying, "(He did have 100 yards)."

During a post-game interview with ESPN, Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson shared his thoughts on the interaction, tipping his hat to Jones's elite ability to stir up controversy.

"He's probably one of the best sh-t talkers in the league," Johnson said, later calling Jones' skill "top notch."

On the other side of the field, Hurts opened up to reporters about what it took for him and his team to cross the finish line.

"I think that's the most important thing is finding a way to win," said Hurts. "Given the competitive nature of the game and how our games have gone when we've played this team, it's a really good team, we've got a ton of respect for them obviously, but you've got to come in with a sense of focus, you've got to stay patient within yourself, stay patient within the team and your role, and let things come to you. And I think as a team, we showed up when we needed to the most."

And although Philly fans expected a bit more production from their birds, head coach Nick Sirianni was pleased with his team's performance.

"Our job, especially early in the season, is find a way to win, take pride in winning any way that you possibly can, work to get better throughout the week, repeat, repeat, repeat," he said.

Hurts' interaction with Jones isn't the first on-field scuffle of the 2025 season to capture headlines. In fact, Hurts' teammate, Jalen Carter, was ejected from the first game of the season for spitting on the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback, Dak Prescott.

The incident was also captured on camera and showed a referee immediately throwing a flag.

Prescott told reporters that he spits often during NFL games, but would never spit on another player. “I actually said words like, ‘Why the hell would I’ excuse me, but probably even more colorful ‘what would I need to spit on you for?’ He just spit on me in that moment; it was more of a surprise than anything,” Prescott said.

Carter Was Fined A Hefty Amount

According to a report from NBC Sports, the NFL fined Carter $57,222, his full weekly paycheck, for spitting on Prescott.

The league later determined that Carter's ejection, which came before a single snap was played, was sufficient punishment, and he faced no further suspension.

Carter's rep revealed he would not appeal the decision and has shifted his focus to the remainder of the games for the upcoming season.
