New DNA evidence and threatening messages have come out, strengthening the case against Tyler Robinson, accused of fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
Robinson's father helped authorities identify him, while Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed the suspect remains uncooperative, though associates are assisting.
Reports suggest Tyler Robinson boasted of the attack on Charlie Kirk in texts and on Discord. He faces charges including aggravated murder.
FBI Links DNA Evidence To Suspect In Charlie Kirk Shooting

The case against Kirk's accused shooter has grown even stronger, with federal investigators now pointing to fresh DNA evidence and a chilling written threat allegedly tied to the suspect.
FBI Director Kash Patel revealed the updates during a Monday appearance on "Fox & Friends," detailing the ongoing probe into last week's fatal shooting at Utah Valley University.
Authorities allege that 23-year-old Tyler Robinson opened fire with a rifle while Kirk was onstage taking questions, striking him in the neck with a single round.
Investigators say Robinson's father recognized him from FBI suspect photos and, after confiding in a local youth pastor connected to the U.S. Marshals Service, helped set the stage for his son's capture.
According to TMZ, Patel explained that forensic teams linked Robinson's DNA to a towel wrapped around the discarded rifle, which was recovered in nearby woods. Additional genetic evidence was reportedly recovered from a screwdriver left on the roof of a campus building, where officials believe Robinson positioned himself before carrying out the attack.
FBI Says Suspect Sent Texts About Killing Charlie Kirk, Boasting About Being Able To 'Take Out' The Activist

Patel also disclosed that Robinson had sent text messages to another individual shortly before the shooting.
The alleged killer boasted that he had a chance to "take out Charlie Kirk" and intended to follow through "because of his hatred for what Charlie stood for."
When pressed on why the recipient of those texts never came forward, the FBI chief declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
Utah Governor Says Tyler Robinson Has Refused To Cooperate

Meanwhile, Utah Governor Spencer Cox later confirmed that Robinson has refused to cooperate with law enforcement since his capture, though others in his circle have been assisting investigators. Robinson was arrested roughly 33 hours after the shooting.
Cox, who previously told The Wall Street Journal that Robinson had been "deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology," said that information came from the suspect's friends and family.
He added that Robinson's roommate and alleged romantic partner has been "extremely cooperative" and continues to assist authorities.
Utah Governor Confirms Suspect Admitted To Charlie Kirk's Shooting In Discord Messages

The governor also addressed reports from The New York Times that Robinson used Discord to downplay the shooting after the fact, joking that a "doppelganger" was trying to frame him. According to Cox, Robinson's contacts initially dismissed the remarks as jokes until he eventually admitted responsibility.
"All we can confirm is that those conversations definitely were happening, and they did not believe it was actually him," Cox told ABC News. "It was, it was all joking until, until he, you know, until he admitted that it actually was him."
According to a Utah state affidavit, Robinson was arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice. He is being held without bail at the Utah County Jail.
"We're interviewing all kinds of people - everyone that knows him - and trying to learn more about what the motive actually was," Cox added.
Erika Kirk Honors Late Husband In Tearful Tribute Ahead Of Public Memorial

On Saturday, Kirk's widow, Erika, delivered an emotional tribute, thanking first responders and vowing that her husband's "voice will remain."
Speaking during a livestream from Turning Point USA's Arizona headquarters, Erika stood beside the empty chair Kirk once used for his podcast recordings. After a moment of silent prayer, she quoted scripture and reflected on his devotion to their family, his faith, and his support for President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
"Mr President, my husband loved you. And he knew that you loved him too," she said through tears, also expressing gratitude to Vance and his wife, Usha, for accompanying Kirk's casket back to Arizona.
Erika added, "But most of all, Charlie loved his children. And he loved me. With all his heart. And he made sure I knew that every day."
Turning Point USA, the conservative organization Kirk co-founded, announced that a public memorial will be held on September 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, a venue that seats more than 60,000 people, and where Kirk lived with his wife and two children.
