Prince Harry is reportedly looking to "reset" his relationship with the royal family and the British public as insiders say he's dealing with "regrets" over the fallout that has ensued.

The former working royal was recently in his home country and met with his estranged father King Charles, who's understood to be open to a rapprochement as he misses his grandkids Archie and Lilibet.

Prince Harry is currently in Ukraine as part of his Invictus Games effort, where he met with injured veterans and the country's raging war with Russia.

Prince Harry is reportedly keen to "reset" his strained relationship with the royal family and the British populace, as reports suggest he "regrets" some of his actions since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, left their royal role in 2020.

The Duke of Sussex was in the UK for 4 days of engagements and had a reconciliation meeting with King Charles for the first time in almost 2 years. Charles is understood to be maintaining an open arm with his son as he looks to reunite with his grandkids Archie and Lilibet, who he hasn't seen for 3 years.

A source told the Daily Mail that the events this past week could mean Harry, Meghan, and their two children would be welcomed into a "functioning wider family again," after their self-imposed royal exile.

"It's become clear that Harry now regrets some of his actions. He wants to reset his relationship with his family and with the people of the UK," the insider said.

"It's hard to see him ever coming back to live in Britain, but this may be the start of something that at least allows them to be a functioning wider family again," they added.

Harry has since relocated to the U.S., where he and Meghan now raise their family. Following his visit back to the country, a spokesman told the Daily Mail that he "loved being" back in the UK and "catching up" with his friends and the causes that are dear to him.

Reports suggest the meeting with his father is the first step in the bigger picture that could see him and his family visit the UK next year, although it remains to be seen if Meghan will join for the visit.

"The King wants to be a grandfather to his grandchildren, so that's an important pull. He was so pleased when they came over for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, and he was able to spend some time with them," a royal source said.

Yet, some obstacles would have to be done away with if the Sussexes' travel plans were to see the light of day, as Harry has been fighting against the Home Office's decision to cancel his publicly funded police protection in the UK.

His appeal has previously been dismissed as judge Sir Geoffrey Vos ruled that the decision to downgrade his security details was correct.

In an interview with the BBC shortly after, Harry said he cannot "see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point," adding that the security row is "the sticking point" and "the only thing that's left."

Earlier this year, Harry expressed his willingness to reconcile with his family, noting that there was "no point in continuing to fight anymore."

However, he's likely to receive armed security details for his visit to the UK.

"There are all sorts of obstacles to that happening again because of Harry's insistence that they have guaranteed armed police protection," a royal source told the Daily Mail.

"But maybe there is a way of getting them over to Balmoral or Sandringham next year or another royal residence where they are within the security perimeter," the insider added.

Any Hopes For Prince Harry And Prince William Reconciling

While Harry and his father appear to be getting along, his relationship with his estranged brother, Prince William, remains strained, and the pair didn't see each other during the Duke's visit.

At some point, Harry was close to William and Kate's family home when he visited Windsor, but had "zero" communication with any of them.

"Their relationship is at an all-time low," a source said, per Vanity Fair. "It's as if something has pushed William even further away from the prospect of a reconciliation. He is adamant that he wants nothing to do with his brother. He is more upset with him than ever."

According to the news outlet, the future king is thought to have been against Harry's meeting with Charles because he feels private family conversations will not be kept confidential.
