Taylor Swift would likely prefer to stay on the sidelines in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's ongoing court battle.
The pop star has informed the court about her intentions not to appear for deposition in any form in Lively and Baldoni's case, except in a dire situation.
Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's long-standing friendship has reportedly suffered significant strain since her name surfaced in the legal dispute between the actress and Justin Baldoni.
Taylor Swift Says No To Deposition

Swift has communicated to the judge through her attorney that she is not willing to appear for a deposition in Lively and Baldoni's ongoing legal drama.
According to her lawyers, Swift reiterated that she will not be participating in the process and will only show up if she is forced by the court to give a testimony. The singer filed this letter in response to Baldoni's claim that she agreed to a deposition set for the end of October.
While Swift largely did not request to be involved in the legal debacle, Baldoni dragged her into it after he named her in his $400 million countersuit. The producer had claimed Lively's husband, Ryan Reynolds, and Swift ambushed him during a meeting with the actress at her penthouse in New York.
Per TMZ, text messages from after allegedly had Lively bragging about her friendship with Swift and how far she and Reynolds would go to protect her in case of any incident.
Inside Plans To Get Some Words Out Of The 'Bad Blood' Singer

Last week, The Blast shared that court documents stated that the singer will be requested to testify under oath as October wraps up.
However, the final call lies in the hands of the judge to approve or disapprove of any extension beyond that date. Baldoni's attorney claimed that Lively had wrongly reported that the Wayfarer Parties were seeking a blanket 30-day extension of the discovery deadline.
The camp clarified that instead, the Wayfarer Parties simply requested an agreement to take Swift's deposition during the week of October 20-25 due to her very demanding schedule. Baldoni's attorneys have reportedly considered Swift and Lively's text messages essential to make a breakthrough in the case.
The producer's lawyers are reportedly waiting for her to wrap up her album promotion before hitting her with the deposition.
Swift And Lively's Friendship Has Reportedly Taken A Backseat Since The Case

The duo used to be inseparable in the past, including attending the 2024 Super Bowl together, alongside rapper Ice Spice, to watch her fiancé, Travis Kelce, play. Baldoni and Lively's court case has since cast a dark shadow on that blooming friendship.
Insiders affirmed that Swift has reportedly ignored calls by Lively to link up and talk things out. Lively sent multiple texts, voicemails, and emails as recently as June, all of which were met with a deafening silence.
The actress was also strangely quiet in the wake of the singer's engagement to Kelce, an act the public took as an indication of an intense cut in the duo's friendship.
Insiders close to Lively have reportedly explained that the ship had sailed for that friendship, and the actress has moved on to bigger and better things after several attempts to repair their bond.
The Pop Star Was Reportedly In Disbelief Over The Details Of That Text Message

The singer, for one, could not wrap her head around the fact that Lively would ever insinuate that she would inherit her battles. After all, the duo reportedly does not share a ride-or-die friendship.
As stated by The Blast, Lively and the singer hit it off in their friendship because of their shared passion for baking, traveling, and decorating their spaces.
"They got along because they each lived their lives with the sort of trappings and access and privilege that tons of money brings," an insider added.
Swift also felt safe with Lively because she would not be a financial burden on her, judging by her successful acting career, businesses, and marriage to one of Hollywood's finest.
"Taylor would never think of herself as Blake's 'dragon,' or protector, or someone who would interfere on her behalf," the insider added.
Blake Lively Is At Peace With The Demise Of Her Friendship With Taylor Swift

Now that things have completely fallen apart between them, sources are sharing that Lively has erased the Swift name from her vocabulary. The new reality is reportedly a drastic shift from conversations in the past, where Lively saw herself playing big roles in the vocalist's life.
Before her engagement to Kelce, Lively and the singer had reportedly mapped out how she would participate in Swift's wedding. Now, that fate is sealed as Lively is certain she will not be appearing at the wedding.
"Blake didn't reach out [following the engagement announcement] and isn't going to. This isn't the time," an insider affirmed. Kelce and Swift wrapped up August with the lovely news of their engagement, which reportedly took place right in their backyard in Kansas City as they prepared to head out to dinner.
