Over a month ago, tragedy struck Dog the Bounty Hunter’s family as the TV personality lost his grandson in a freak in-house accident.
Dog The Bounty Hunter’s Son Has Been Placed On Administrative Leave

Garry, who works as an Alabama police officer, was involved in a police chase in Hartselle, Alabama, on Saturday, September 6. The chase ended in a car crash that unfortunately took the life of Tristan Hollis, who was not linked to the case.
As confirmed by People Magazine, Garry was immediately placed on administrative leave following the incident. Priceville Police Chief Jerry Holmes has also confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The victim, Hollis, recently celebrated his 17th birthday and had just gotten his first car. His friends and loved ones all poured out loving tributes to him during a memorial service that was held in his honor.
People close to Hollis are devastated by the loss. A mother to one of the victim’s friends had nothing but praise for him, saying, “He was a good kid, so he used to come over to our house all the time, and he’s so polite and sweet, so I liked him a lot.”
Meanwhile, Officer Garry has worked with law enforcement for over three years. When speaking on his reason for joining the force, he lauded his father, Duane Chapman, better known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, for inspiring him to positively impact people’s lives through his service.
Dog The Bounty Hunter’s Family Is Just Recovering From A Tragedy

Garry's crash comes as the Chapman family is in grief.
In July, The Blast reported that Dog the Bounty Hunter’s family was thrown into mourning when his stepson accidentally shot his grandson. The unfortunate incident took place in Naples, Florida.
According to reports, the TV personality’s wife’s son, Gregory Zecca, shot a bullet from his firearm, which unintentionally hit Hunter’s 13-year-old grandson, Anthony.
Hunter and his wife, Francie Frane, released a statement about the incident, saying, “We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible, tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony."
Gregory Zecca Was Placed Under Psychiatric Hold Following The Fatal Shooting

After Hunter’s stepson, Zecca, unintentionally ended his son’s life, he was thrown into unimaginable grief. As a result, he had to be placed under psychiatric hold for fear that he might’ve tried to end his own life while grieving his son.
The Blast confirmed that the TV personality’s stepson was not suspected of a crime, but was placed on hold for his own safety. He was reportedly heavily sedated following the incident and was initially unable to speak to anyone about the shooting.
A police report detailed the gruesome nature of the injuries Zecca’s son sustained during the shooting, noting that the 13-year-old boy took a bullet to his neck, just above his sternum. There was also no exit wound, and the boy lost a lot of blood within a short period.
When first responders arrived, they tried using CPR, chest compressions, and a chest seal to save him, but all their efforts proved futile.
Gregory Zecca Once Worked Alongside His Step-Father, Dog The Bounty Hunter

Zecca is one of the two sons Frane had from a previous marriage. After she got together with Hunter, her son, Zecca, and Hunter developed a close relationship.
He joined his stepfather’s bounty hunting team and, in 2021, started a podcast called “Beyond The Bounty With Greg Zecca.”
The podcast gave listeners an insight into the bounty hunting process with Hunter and Zecca.
