Before Offset’s recent push for peace, Cardi took aim at him in a fiery X Spaces rant in June. The Bronx-born rapper accused him of being a deadbeat dad, claiming he left her “with the kids’ bills” for “a whole year straight.” She detailed their staggering expenses, saying she covers 24-hour security, private schooling, extracurriculars, and a full-time nanny.

“Kiari, have I asked you for anything? You want spousal support so bad,” she fumed. “And mind you, this is not even including food, my kids have a personal chef that comes from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. that I pay for because people in my house don’t have time to cook.”

A $24 Million Civil Assault Trial

Cardi has also notched a major legal victory this year, walking away from a $24 million civil assault trial in March after a jury found she was not liable for allegedly assaulting a security guard in 2018.

The case stemmed from an incident in 2018 when security guard Emani Ellis accused the rapper of scratching her face with a long acrylic nail and spitting on her outside an obstetrician’s office. At the time, Cardi was secretly pregnant with her first child, a detail that hadn’t yet been made public.

The lawsuit claimed the altercation left Ellis “traumatized,” but Cardi told the court a different story. She testified that Ellis had been filming her on a phone and refusing to give her privacy while she attended the appointment. Cardi admitted the confrontation turned into a heated shouting match but firmly denied ever laying a hand, or nail, on Ellis, or spitting on her.

The trial, held in Alhambra, California, was full of viral courtroom moments, including Cardi’s candid remarks about the run-in and even her fashion choices. But the jury ultimately sided with her, taking only about an hour to dismiss all allegations, which included assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and false imprisonment.

Speaking outside the courthouse, the Grammy winner was blunt about her refusal to settle. “I work all day and I work hard for my money, for my kids, for the people that I take care of. So don’t you ever think that you’re going to sue me, and I’m just going to settle,” she declared.

Cardi also asked her fans to respect Ellis and her family now that the trial was over, making it clear she wanted the matter put to rest.
