Fans expecting Dwayne Johnson to bulk up after shedding his signature muscular frame are about to be very disappointed.

The WWE superstar recently confirmed he won't be embracing his old physique anytime soon as he plans to lose more weight for a new role. The announcement follows the successful debut of his boxing biopic "The Smashing Machine."

Dwayne Johnson shocked fans with his weight loss transformation in August at the 82nd Venice Film Festival. He lost significant weight to portray the life of former wrestler and MMA star Mark Kerr in the boxing biopic.

When Johnson declared his intentions to tackle more challenging roles rather than his usual action man characters, he wasn't joking. He announced he won't be regaining the muscles he lost while speaking at the Toronto Film Festival on Monday, September 8.

Johnson explained that he would reunite with "The Smashing Machine" director Benny Safdie for another challenging role requiring him to lose weight. He noted the director pitched the idea after the boxing biopic, and he immediately accepted the challenge.

The new role requires Johnson to transform into a "whimsical, eccentric 70-something-year-old" called Chicken Man, per Variety. The upcoming movie, "Lizard Music," is an adaptation of Daniel Pinkwater's hit 1976 novel that follows the story of a man whose best friend is a chicken.

Johnson confessed that he had a long way to go before transforming into a septuagenarian for his upcoming movie. However, he did not mind shedding more pounds and was excited to challenge himself, just as he had done for the boxing biopic.

The Hollywood veteran admitted that he loved changing his image from his typical action man roles because there was more to him than the muscular characters he frequently portrayed. "I felt for a few years, I was pigeonholed because I allowed it to happen," Johnson confessed.

Although he was happy to have new opportunities that showcased his diversity as an actor, Johnson hasn't abandoned the roles that skyrocketed him to fame. He assured fans his days as an action man weren't over, revealing he would reunite with Kevin Hart for "Jumanji 3," which starts shooting in November.
