Taylor Swift fans are extremely loyal to Travis Kelce, and their latest social media campaign proves exactly that. During the NFL's Friday night stream on YouTube, Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, got into a physical scuffle with Los Angeles Chargers star Teair Tart, resulting in the latter forcibly slapping Kelce with an open hand at the end of a play. The moment captured the attention of millions, sparking a wide range of opinions and an immediate, unsurprising ambush from the Swifties.

Taylor Swift Fans Are Slamming Los Angeles Chargers Player For Slapping Travis Kelce During Chiefs' Season Opener

The exchange between Tart and Kelce was quick but explosive. Tart's open hand slap came at the end of a drive after Kelce gave the former an extra shove in the side. The referee threw a flag almost instantly, later calling a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty.

Many assumed Tart would be ejected from the game for his conduct; however, the defensive lineman remained, later making a massive play to help keep the Chiefs out of the endzone.

According to NBC Sports, YouTube rules analyst Terry McAulay explained why Tart wasn't removed, noting, "[The officials] said because it was an open-hand contact to the head, that was not disqualifying action.”

That decision, however, didn't sit well with Swifties, who began flooding Tart's social media pages with passionate comments defending Kelce.

Tart Gets Some Defense Against Swift And Kelce Stans

Amid all of that, though, Tart's comment section is receiving a generous amount of love and support from other football fans.

Kelce's Night On The Football Field

Kelce had a quiet night through the game's first three quarters, only securing one reception for 10 yards. Things shifted in the fourth quarter, though, when Kelce caught a pass from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes for a 37-yard touchdown.

Kelce, 35, celebrated by mimicking a bull, giving himself pretend horns and scraping his foot on the turf. He later celebrated with other teammates, namely Tyquan Thornton and JuJu Smith-Schuster, dancing with them in the endzone before being joined by Mahomes.

Even then, the Chiefs still came up short after the Chargers later scored a third touchdown, stretching their lead to 27-21.

More Drama On The NFL Field

The drama with Kelce and Tart wasn't the only intense showdown the NFL saw during its opening weekend. According to a previous report from The Blast, Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Carter was removed from their contest against the Dallas Cowboys for spitting on quarterback Dak Prescott.

In an interview after the game, Prescott opened up about the moment, saying he was "insulted" by Carter's actions.

“I actually said words like, ‘Why the hell would I’ excuse me, but probably even more colorful ‘what would I need to spit on you for?’ He just spit on me in that moment, it was more of a surprise than anything,” Prescott said.

Carter faced intense backlash from analysts and former NFL players, including Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Clark. He later spoke to reporters about the incident and apologized for his behavior, calling it a "mistake" that wouldn't "happen again."
