Was there actually a rivalry between the bands? Well, it turns out that the answer varies depending on who you ask. AJ McLean totally squashed the rumors of a real beef between the bands claiming it was mainly the media that pitted them against each other. He hopes that both bands can actually continue to appear together saying to PEOPLE,

"Just to be able to do something like this together hopefully squashes all that crap that was never true in the first place. This is about coming together."

One of the main reasons why members of opposite bands are now working together is that they realized how much their lives were similar. Also, Carter for example is 41. Trying to keep up a teen feud at his age would look weird. The recent event that brought both bands together may not be their last. Carter explained what has united them saying,

"What's happening now is that we are realizing that we're the only ones that have gone through what we have together, and we relate to one another,"

The event that saw members of both bands come together as we mentioned was actually a Bingo tournament. The former boyband members were not actually hosting the event. They were the event's entertainment for the evening.

AJ McLean kicked off the performance with his solo "Love Song Love,". Immediately following that though the rest of the 3 artists joined him on stage to perform "I want it that way". Then they proceeded to sing "Bye Bye Bye". The reaction from the mostly millennial crowd was what you might expect. Ex-NSYNC member Joey Fatone was hopeful that the 4 artists could continue to collaborate together. Even if it's just for Pride events he mentioned!
