Meghan Markle took some time to explore her creative side in her new children’s book titled “The Bench.” Markle has claimed that the book was inspired by a poem that she had written for her husband Prince Harry. In a recent interview with NPR News, some of the “easter eggs” that can be found in the book. Including a couple of references to her mother in law Princess Diana.
She mentioned that the whole book was filled with sweet little moments that are meaningful to her family. We’re guessing she is referring to the family she actually likes.
References To Diana In “The Bench”
Although there are no direct references to the late Princess of Wales in the text or drawings there are little hints according to Markle. References to things like the late Princess’s favorite flower were deliberately included in the book. The Duchess of Sussex mentioned about some of these easter eggs,
“I think you can find sweet little moments that we’ve tucked in there, from my favorite flower, even my husband’s mum’s favorite flower, forget-me-nots, we wanted to make sure they were included in there,”
The Book’s Sales Are Picking Up In The US
The books opening week numbers were not all that great in the UK. Managing to sell a little over three thousand copies. A number that did not allow it to crack even the top 50 in sales. The brits showed that they weren’t all too with Meghan’s efforts. However, her US audience quickly bailed her out! A couple of days ago The New York Times announced that the book had hit the number one spot on their list for best-selling Children’s book. At this point, the book has picked up mixed reviews from readers. Many reviews though seem to feature a bit of personal biased one way or the other.
Meghan Claims Archie Is A Big Fan Of The Book
NPR claims that the interview took place before baby Lilibet Diana was born. Of course, even if she was born after the interview getting her opinion on the book would be hard! Meghan did tell the news outlet though that son Archie is a big fan of the book. Meghan revealed that she and Prince Harry are very much in the habit of reading books to son Archie. He seems to enjoy them quite a bit. Drawings depicting Archie in “The Bench” are actually plentiful. Meghan mentioned about Archie’s love for the book,
“Archie loves the book, he has a voracious appetite for books and constantly when we read him a book he goes ‘Again, again.”
Princess Diana Memorial Will Get The Couple Back In The UK
In spite of the “differences” that the couple has with The Royal Family, it’ll be Princess Diana in a way that will force them to meet up again. Although Meghan is still recovering from giving birth to daughter Lilibet Diana all accounts indicate she plans to be in the U.K. for a memorial service to the late Princess in July.
There’s been other news that indicates Harry and Meghan are trying to regain contact with the Royals. The couple has expressed interest in being involved in The Queen’s Jubilee celebration. At the very least the couple is expecting an invite to The Party at The Palace. Which, is set to be a special concert that will take place at Buckingham Palace. To celebrate another milestone for the Queen on the throne.
