Meghan McCain's Former Hairstyles Resurface After Greta Thunberg 'Hair Shaming'

Meghan McCain is facing criticism after mocking Greta Thunberg's appearance, with critics resurfacing her own past hairstyles.
The online backlash came swiftly after McCain dismissed Thunberg's political voice, joking that the activist looked like a cartoon character more than a force for change.
Meghan McCain is no stranger to stirring controversy. Just last year, she took aim at "The View" and her former co-hosts, blasting the panel for lacking political diversity and insisting the show needed at least one pro-Trump voice.

McCain's jab at Thunberg backfired, with people on X dragging up her own questionable hair moments. After she mocked the young activist's look, critics quickly pointed out the irony, resurfacing collages of McCain's past styles.
One fan posted a side-by-side set of photos of McCain wearing puffs and a ponytail, asking, "Who is hair shaming again???" Others joined in, sharing images of her faux mohawk and other bold experiments with her hair over the years.
They did not hold back. "It's always fun to remember how much the stylists hated MegNut," one person wrote. Another bluntly added, "This chick? [deep thought and laughing emojis]," with a photo collage attached.
The backlash was not just about hairstyles. Many argued that McCain had no right to insult Thunberg's appearance, given that her own record of public remarks has leaned heavily on criticism rather than substance.
"Imagine Meghan McCain criticizing anyone's appearance," one commenter noted, while another summed up the sentiment more harshly: "John McCain's daughter needs to STFU. She's an awful person."

The latest feud kicked off when McCain compared Thunberg's hair to Lord Farquaad, the cartoon villain from "Shrek." The daughter of former presidential candidate John McCain dismissed Thunberg's message on global politics by zeroing in on her haircut.
McCain wrote in a now-deleted X post, "I refuse to take anyone talking about politics seriously with uneven bangs and this sh-tty Lord Farquaad hair," shifting the focus from Thunberg's speech to her appearance.
The clip McCain shared showed Thunberg speaking about serious global issues, including genocide, fascism, and colonization.
McCain Claimed She Was Bullied On 'The View'

McCain's move raises eyebrows, especially since she once opened up about being on the receiving end of bullying herself. The Blast noted that in 2023, McCain claimed she was still being harassed by her former "The View" co-hosts, even two years after leaving the daytime talk show.
The 40-year-old stepped away from the panel in 2021, but she told Michael Malice on his "You're Welcome" podcast that the criticism did not stop.
"The thing about The View is that I didn't know when I signed my contract with ABC that this is forever, that for the rest of my life, I'm going to be bullied, yelled at, abused, and brought up for years," she said. She then referred to her former co-stars as "crazy old people," who constantly drag her.
Meghan McCain Also Slammed The Talk Show

Not one to let things slide, McCain doubled down the following year, ripping the show for shutting out conservative voices in the wake of Trump's 2024 win. The Blast noted that McCain jumped on X to argue that they failed their audience during such a critical political moment.
In her post, McCain accused ABC of dropping the ball by not having a single conservative woman on the table after the election. She pointed out that every panelist voted for Kamala Harris, claiming that left no room for viewers to hear why Trump remained so popular with millions of Americans.
"It's actual malfeasance," McCain wrote, stressing that audiences deserved a balanced conversation rather than one-sided commentary. Still, while she slammed her old show for excluding pro-Trump voices, McCain admitted she sat out the 2024 vote altogether.
Greta Thunberg Brushes Off London Arrest

McCain's swipe at Thunberg's hair may have garnered attention online, but if history is any guide, the young activist is unlikely to lose sleep over it. Thunberg has faced far bigger challenges than a dig about her bangs, and she has proven time and again that she does not crack under pressure.
The Blast highlighted one example from 2023, when the Swedish climate campaigner was taken into custody during a protest in London. Thunberg joined demonstrators outside the InterContinental Hotel, where an oil summit was being held, in an effort to push energy leaders toward accountability.
Things did not go her way, as police moved in and led her away in handcuffs. But instead of breaking down, Thunberg stood calm and steady.
Meghan McCain's attempt to mock Greta Thunberg only brought the spotlight right back to her own past.
