DMX's Funeral Covered By Def Jam Recordings, Company Shelled Out $35,000

DMX's funeral costs were covered by his record label, after putting in a huge amount of work including several incredible albums!

According to legal documents, associated with the late rapper's probated, Def Jam Recording paid the costs of the funeral to Brooks Memorial Home Inc. in Yonkers, New York which was sent to DMX's family. In the filing, it says the date was May 5, 2021, and covered the burial services of "Earl Simmons" which is DMX's government name.

The total amount paid by the record label was $35,228.13. The breakdown of costs included transferring, his remains from the funeral home, embalming, and the hearse with flowers.

As you know, X was laid to rest in a beautiful custom red casket which went for a cool $7,450. BTW, in the documents, there is no mention of the mind-blowing monster truck which carried the red casket through X's hometown, and onto Barclay's center where a massive event was held in his honor. The truck was shadowed by hundreds of motorcycles and ATVs and friends of the rapper who were sporting "Ruff Ryders" patches and clothing.

The funeral was attended by famous musicians such as Swizz Beatz and Jay Z. Rapper Kanye West performed a special segment with his Yeezy choir for the event.

As we reported, DMX reportedly died of a drug overdose which included a mixture of crack-cocaine and the deadly opioid Fentanyl. Famous music mogul Irv Gotti revealed the shocking information while appearing on Chicago's 107.5 WGCI's morning show, and described the fateful call he received surrounding details of the death. According to Gotti, DMX received a "bad dose of crack" which was laced with Fentanyl. Unfortunately, this country has seen a rise in death associated with Fendynal accidentally being mixed with other drugs like cocaine.

In the shocking interview, Gotti claims DMX suffered a massive heart attack during the ordeal and was diagnosed with COVID-19. "They said it was a bad dose of crack and they said some drug Fentanyl was mixed in with the crack and that’s what made him overdose," he said. He continued, “Then when he got to the hospital, he got diagnosed with COVID and he couldn’t breathe — you know that COVID messes with your respiratory system — so that’s why he had to get hooked up to the ventilator.”

After hearing of the condition DMX was in after suffering from the heart attack and overdose, Gotti was clear he wouldn't have wanted the legendary rapper to have to continue living in that condition -- basically, in a "vegetative state." At this point, the music executive believes that X is now at peace and doesn't have to continue "fighting his demons."

In the end, DMX's family held a smaller and more private funeral for his immediate family and he was laid to rest near his hometown in New York.
