Wendy Williams' attorney has dropped bombshell claims about her recent medical examination results.

Joe Tacopina, a renowned criminal defense attorney, joined the former daytime talk show host's legal team months earlier to defend her in her ongoing guardianship proceedings. He has been vocal about his distaste for the system and echoed similar sentiments in a new interview.

Wendy Williams has been under guardianship since 2022 after the court determined she was cognitively incapacitated and unable to manage her affairs. As a court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey became responsible for the entertainer's well-being.

During a recent interview, Williams's attorney, Tacopina, claimed the widespread reports of her medical evaluation results were false. Sources had alleged Williams was re-diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia, which could extend her guardianship.

However, Tacopina emphasized that it was a HIPAA violation to publicize or discuss a person's medical records without their consent. On that note, he argued that the rampant rumors of Williams' diagnosis were false because no one had seen the results.

"No one has seen this report yet…Not even Wendy. Not us, not her guardianship lawyers," Tacopina told Extra's Carlos Greer. He doubled down on Williams' cognitive capabilities, claiming, "She is personally doing great. As a human being, she is as lucid as they come."

Tacopina did not hold back his distaste for the guardianship system, describing what Williams had endured as "unjust" and "despicable." He noted that they would fight against the alleged injustice, stating that their next step was to undergo another medical evaluation with a neutral physician.

Following the results of the new tests, Tacopina hoped the current judge on Williams' case would make the correct ruling; otherwise, they would push for a jury battle. The legal rep added that Williams was happy the injustice happened to her because she had a platform.

"She is happy it is her, because hopefully it will put an end to this kind of abuse," Tacopina said. His words matched his previous comments about Williams, with her inner circle echoing similar sentiments about her cognitive state.

Days earlier, The Blast shared that Williams caused a stir in New York City when she stepped out for lunch at Max Tucci's Italian restaurant. She looked radiant as she exited an SUV with the restaurant's owner.

"She seems fine. She's witty and is getting healthier. It's like old Wendy," a source noted about her appearance. Another agreed, claiming Williams was healthy but emotionally exhausted by her guardianship and wanted out.

They emphasized her desire to regain control of her life down to the last detail, noting she wished to return to the spotlight and go out for meals without seeking her guardian's permission.

In April, Reverend Al Sharpton shared tales of Williams' return to her old self when he visited her assisted living facility in NYC.

Before the widespread reports of Williams' FTD and aphasia re-diagnosis, the TV personality alleged that she was deemed cognitively fit. She broke the news in March, claiming she passed the medical evaluation in flying colors during an interview.

Williams' caretaker, Ginalia Monterrosa, backed her claims, noting she was "not incapacitated." The tests were done two months after Williams leveled scathing claims against her court-appointed guardian, Morrissey.

She described the assisted living facility she was in as a "luxury prison," and accused Morrissey of emotional abuse. Williams alleged that she was isolated from her family and friends, with her niece, Alex Finnie, sharing the same narrative.

Last month, The Blast reported that Tacopina was upset by the delays in Williams' fight for freedom. He noted the process was "despicably slow" and called out Judge Lisa Sokoloff's biased and uncooperative behavior.

Williams' legal representative accused the judge of being unwilling to grant her client her freedom, noting that her attitude was far from professional. He echoed similar sentiments in April after Sokoloff made waves for allegedly telling Williams her career was over.

Tacopina slammed the judge's comment as "outrageous," stressing that she had no right to criticize Williams. Additionally, he disapproved of the gag order Sokoloff placed on Williams' family, which prohibited them from addressing her guardianship publicly.
