Ben Affleck Debuts New Look After Being Snubbed From 'Hottest Actors Over 50' List

Ben Affleck appears to have undergone a significant transformation after being left out of AARP's "Hottest Actors Over 50" list.

The actor recently addressed his post-divorce life after separating from Jennifer Lopez, emphasizing the importance of privacy, mutual respect, and that their split involved "no scandal."

Meanwhile, Ben Affleck is currently working on producing movies, including "Kiss of the Spider Woman," starring his ex-wife.

Ben Affleck showed off a polished new style on Thursday, shortly after being left off AARP's "Hottest Actors Over 50" list.

The 53-year-old actor, who finalized his divorce from Jennifer Lopez earlier this year, swapped his weeks-long scruffy beard for a clean-shaven look and sported a shorter haircut. He was spotted driving his black sedan to his West Hollywood office, dressed in a pale gray suit layered over a crisp white shirt.

While Affleck didn't make AARP's list, his longtime friend and "Good Will Hunting" co-star Matt Damon did.

The list, revealed by Sam Champion on "Good Morning America," celebrates performers in their 50s through 70s whose "enduring appeal transcends generations," and features familiar names like Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

Affleck hadn't been seen clean-shaven since August 2024. In April, he debuted a darker, fuller beard at CinemaCon 2025 while promoting his film "The Accountant 2." His facial hair appeared a richer brown compared to his usual salt-and-pepper style.

At CinemaCon 2025, Affleck joined co-stars Daniella Pineda, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and Jon Bernthal for an Amazon MGM Studios presentation, wearing a single-breasted navy suit with a light blue shirt, opting to skip the tie and leave the top buttons undone for a relaxed look.

His hair, mustache, and beard were all noticeably darker, contrasting with his appearance just days earlier on March 30, when he was seen in Los Angeles with slightly lighter hair and gray-speckled facial hair.

The actor's CinemaCon appearance came shortly after he broke his public silence following his split from Lopez.

In an April cover interview with GQ, he addressed the rumors surrounding his divorce from Lopez, while explaining his decision to participate in the 2024 documentary about their relationship, "The Greatest Love Story Never Told."

"Part of it was, 'Okay, if I'm going to participate in this, I want to try to do it in an honest way and in a way that's interesting,'" he explained. "Because I thought it was an interesting examination."

He also clarified that the documentary wasn't the source of any major issues between them.

"It's not like you can watch that documentary and go, 'Oh, now I understand the issues that these two had," the actor noted.

He also acknowledged that their differing approaches to fame played a role in their split, admitting that he is "more reserved and private" than his pop star ex-wife.

"You've got to own what you knew going into any relationship," the "Armageddon" star explained. "It's not like you can watch that documentary and go, 'Oh, now I understand the issues that these two had."

Affleck stressed that the end of their marriage involved "no scandal, no soap opera, and no intrigue."

Reflecting on public fascination with breakups, he added, "I guess there's a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would find interesting."

Meanwhile, Affleck has been keeping busy behind the camera, producing several upcoming films, including a new adaptation of "Kiss of the Spider Woman," which stars Lopez.

This marks the second feature-film adaptation of the acclaimed story, following the 1985 version.

In the new version, Lopez plays the titular Spider Woman, Ingrid Luna, while Diego Luna portrays Valentín, a political prisoner, and Tonatiuh stars as Molina, the window dresser. Both Lopez and Diego Luna also serve as additional executive producers.

In a January 2025 interview with Variety, Lopez shared her excitement about finally starring in a major musical.

"I was waiting my whole life to do a big MGM Hollywood musical, and I finally got to do it," she said.

Lopez added, "I got into movies because of 'West Side Story.' I thought I was going to do Broadway. I wanted to do musicals. I love musicals. My kids love musicals. My mother did. It was a dream fulfilled in having done the movie."
