JD Vance has entered the ongoing conversation about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's relationship, suggesting that the NFL might favor the Kansas City Chiefs following the couple's engagement.
The vice president also raised concerns about the possibility of a "Super Bowl wedding" between the duo, insisting such an event should not happen.
Amid his complaints, he still congratulated the couple on their engagement, which Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced on Tuesday in a joint Instagram post.
The Vice President Is Worried The NFL May Favor Travis Kelce's Team

Since the start of Swift's relationship with Kelce, the spotlight has been focused on them in the NFL, especially when the pop star attends her beau's games for the Kansas City Chiefs.
With the duo recently announcing their engagement, it is only expected that more eyes will be on them, which has caused worries about favoritism toward Kelce's team among football fans.
Vice President JD Vance has now weighed in on the possibility, saying he hopes the NFL won't be tempted to "put a thumb on the scale" for the team, given the significant attention Kelce and Swift have brought to the league.
"I will say as a football fan − as a Cincinnati Bengals fan − I hope that the NFL does not put a thumb on the scale for the Kansas City Chiefs just because Travis Kelce is now getting married to maybe the most famous woman in the world," Vance shared in an interview with USA Today.
JD Vance Doesn't Want A 'Super Bowl Wedding' For The Duo

Expanding on his concerns, the Ohio-born politician even suggested the possibility of a Super Bowl wedding for the couple, urging that the league should do everything to prevent it from happening at all costs.
"You guys can't sort of have this, I'm worried they're going to have a Super Bowl wedding thing this season," Vance said. "Can't do it. The Kansas City Chiefs have to follow the same rules as everybody else."
Despite Vance's misgivings about what Kelce and Swift's relationship might mean for the NFL, he still took a moment to congratulate the couple on their engagement.
"When I see two people who are in love getting married, I just wish them the best, and I congratulate them," Vance said. "And I hope they have a very long, healthy, and happy life together."
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Previously Refuted Favoritism Theories

Speculation about the Chiefs receiving favorable calls has grown since Kelce's relationship with Swift.
However, earlier this year, those conspiracy theories were refuted by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell during a press conference ahead of Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome.
"That's a ridiculous theory for anyone who might take it seriously," Goodell said at the time, per the New York Post.
Roger Goodell Linked The Taylor Swift Rumors To A Previous Conspiracy Theory

While reacting to the Swift/Kelce favoritism rumors, Goodell made a sarcastic reference to a past conspiracy theory that claimed he masterminds the results of every NFL season.
"This sort of reminds me a little bit of the script, right? That I write the script and have the script for the entire season," Goodell added, also claiming the theories are all fueled by social media.
He said, "A lot of those theories are things that happen on social media, and they get a new life. Nobody wants it to be their theory. I understand it. It reflects a lot of the fans' passion. It also is a reminder for us how important officiating is."
Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce's Relationship Has Boosted The Earnings Of The NFL

Although there is no public proof of favoritism toward Kelce's team, his relationship with Swift has proven highly profitable for the NFL.
Reports from Market Watch earlier this year revealed that from September 23, 2023, to January 28, 2024, their romance generated an estimated $366.7 million in equivalent brand value for the league.
That figure grew even higher, with another $634.3 million in brand value recorded from the day after the 2024 AFC Championship through January 27, 2025, the day after the following year's AFC Championship.
Combined, the NFL has reaped nearly $1 billion in brand value from increased merchandise sales and ticket purchases.
Beyond the financial windfall, the league has also attracted a broader audience, particularly among female viewers, especially during games attended by Swift.
