Caitlyn Jenner Finally Address Her Grief After Pal Sophia Hutchins’ Death

Caitlyn Jenner has broken her silence about her longtime pal Sophia Hutchins' tragic death and how it affected her.

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" alum met her manager in 2015, before the latter began their transition journey. As transwomen and business associates, they formed a close bond that had many convinced they were dating.

Caitlyn Jenner's friend took her final breath on July 2, in an ATV accident in Malibu. She reportedly died in a 350-foot ravine that had claimed the lives of other drivers in tragic incidents.

Jenner addressed the impacts of Hutchins' death in a new interview, comparing her grief to the pain of the parents who lost their children during the Minneapolis church shooting. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, August 27, with two pre-teens confirmed dead.

The TV personality confessed that it had been "so difficult" grieving Hutchins' passing in the past weeks, and she could understand the trauma the families of the mass shooting victims were enduring. She choked up while speaking to Fox News, saying:

"Here I am dealing with my grief, and I just can't even imagine parents who dropped their kid off at school and, like that father just said, 'I'll never get a chance to talk to him again.' That is just so horrible.'"

Jenner had tears in her eyes as she spoke out about the heartbreaking subject, claiming she and the grieving families had a long way to go before they could heal from their pain. The Daily Mail reported that she wore a black ensemble for her TV appearance, indicating that she was still mourning.

Jenner's longtime pal died in an ATV accident on July 2 after she reportedly hit the bumper of a car in front of her while speeding. Sgt. Eduardo Saucedo of the LASD noted the collision forced Hutchins to "veer to the right and go off the cliff."

She ran her ATV off the road near Jenner's Malibu home, falling into a 350-foot ravine. Emergency responders pronounced Hutchins dead at the scene after they rappelled down the side of the cliff to reach the crash site.

Saucedo revealed Hutchins' damaged ATV remained at the scene because the "tow company didn't have a line that was long enough to attach it and pull it up." She died in a spot where other accidents had occurred, with her car landing on top of a rusted, upside-down car.

Days after Hutchins' demise, The Blast shared that Jenner was spotted for the first time grabbing coffee in Malibu. She donned a casual ensemble and hid her eyes with dark sunglasses, looking somber on her errand. 

Despite her forlorn appearance, Jenner stopped to interact with the paparazzi, admitting that she was going through a tough time since Hutchins' death. However, when the shutterbugs pushed her for a comment, Jenner stressed that she wasn't ready to discuss it.

Jenner and Hutchins first met in 2015 after the reality TV star came out as transgender. The late media personality noted that their mutual hairstylist introduced them, and they quickly became close friends. Hutchins eventually moved into Jenner's home to work as her manager.

Jenner and Hutchins made waves for their close bond, frequently attending events together. Many suspected they were a secret couple, and the rumors continued for years until the late manager shut them down in 2018.

Hutchins declared that she and Jenner were never a couple, noting their relationship was not romantic but familial. She claimed the older entertainer was a parent figure in her eyes, emphasizing that their public outings stemmed from their business partnership.

The Blast shared that the deep bonds Hutchins and Jenner had sparked concerns within the entertainer's inner circle following the manager's passing. Sources alleged they feared Jenner "might never recover from her despair" because she lost her closest confidant.

Following Hutchins' tragic passing, Jenner was spotted with her manager's family, specifically her mother. They were seen running errands in Malibu, with Hutchins' mom quietly trailing behind a sad-looking Jenner.

The Blast reported that she supported the grieving family by offering them a home to settle in as they navigated life without Hutchins. The move wasn't surprising, given the years-long bond between Jenner and her late manager.

Hutchins and Jenner frequently flaunted their bond, including on "I Am Cait," the latter's reality TV show. The deceased also spent quality time with Jenner's family and even modeled for Kim Kardashian's SKIMS brand in 2020.
