Taylor Swift Will Get No 'Congratulations' From Ex After Internet Breaking Engagement

Taylor Swift's ex, Joe Alwyn, reportedly couldn't care less about her engagement to Travis Kelce.

The English actor has reportedly shut the door on thoughts about her ex's love life as she says a big yes to her NFL footballer beau's proposal sometime this month.

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn began their relationship in the fall of 2016, following her split from Tom Hiddleston in September of that year.

The Grammy-winning singer and her ex parted ways in 2023, shortly after she embarked on her record-breaking Eras Tour, and nothing about them has emerged in the news since then until now. 

Following her engagement to the Chiefs' tight end and Alwyn's first public appearance, sources have confirmed that they are both still out of communication. In fact, the insider noted that Swift's engagement to Kelce means her chapter with Alwyn is forever dead and buried, and it would remain that way. 

Although the actor wishes her well in her endeavors and romantic journey, he reportedly does not carry any thoughts of her, nor does he plan to send any congratulatory messages. "He feels that it is not needed, and he feels she wouldn't want to hear from him anyway," the source affirmed per The Daily Mail.

Alwyn also hopes her engagement will finally sever any romantic ties to the singer. The actor now wants to focus on his life and career and be seen as more than Swift's ex.

While Swift and Alwyn kept their six-year-long romance from the public, they reportedly battled several developments behind closed doors. Alwyn especially struggled to comprehend her level of fame and navigate it successfully.

As a result, Alwyn and Swift devised several means to keep their relationship out of the public eye, including limiting public sightings and social media posts. 

Rumors even spread that they had secretly tied the knot in 2020 after they spent the pandemic together, until her publicist debunked the reports after they broke up. The pair eventually parted ways due to Swift's career reportedly taking center stage in their lives, and most importantly were not on the same page. 

Alwyn explained in an interview last June that the decision to maintain a low-key relationship was mutual. He added that since the split in 2023, he has felt fortunate to be in a great professional and personal space.

The NFL professional player has stayed consistent with his intentions towards the singer since reaching out to her on the New Heights podcast about two years ago. Page Six reported that Swift and Kelce have warmed the hearts of fans ever since, sharing the joyful news of their engagement on Tuesday.

The post featured a witty caption from Swift, who informed fans that "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," with a dynamite caption. The Instagram content featured Kelce popping the question on one knee in a garden of flowers and locked in Swift's warm embrace. 

Swift also shared a close-up look at her gorgeous diamond ring featuring an old mine brilliant-cut stone in a gold bezel setting. Kelce and luxury jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry reportedly designed the singer's ring.

Kelce took things up a notch by coordinating with his soon-to-be bride in a navy cable knit Polo Ralph Lauren sweater, which matched Swift's Polo Ralph Lauren striped blue dress.

The media personality, who was the footballer's on-and-off girlfriend for five years and has always fought to exist outside of his shadow, seemingly made a very cryptic post right after his engagement news.

Nicole took to Instagram to share a video of Tracee Ellis Ross speaking about the power of being joyful. Ross's thoughts about working towards joy and the stark difference between joy and happiness resonated with the former sport correspondent.

"I think joy is an attitude. I think joy is a perspective, and I think joy is a lens through which I live and look at my life," Ross added in the video, earning a nod from Nicole.

The former Barstool Sports personality emphasized in her caption that she read about the concept Ross explained years ago in a book titled "Choose Joy." She expressed her desire to aspire for joy because happiness may really not be enough to cover the journey.

Nicole and Kelce's relationship experienced several episodes of breakups, including one in 2020, with rumors that the split happened due to Kelce's infidelity. Although the rumors were debunked and the pair reunited, they finally parted ways for good in 2022, one year before he met Swift.

As things got more serious for the singer and her boo, legal experts also came on board to offer their two cents on how Swift must handle her billion-dollar empire should a wedding be held soon.

The Blast noted that Julia Rodgers, an attorney and founder of HelloPrenup, warned Swift to clearly define their assets and how their future earnings would be handled before walking down the aisle.

Rodgers described a prenuptial agreement as a romantic process that showcases a great deal of commitment by any couple. In her words: "Think of it as modern vows, setting out each partner's goals and intentions so they enter this major financial decision aligned and at peace."

She recommended a confidentiality clause in the prenup to ensure that both their reputations stay intact in the face of public scrutiny. Rodgers added that the couple must adhere to the standard protocol of keeping their premarital assets separate, whether it be her real estate collection or his home.

They can also make room for handling joint ventures, such as co-owning homes or running a business as partners, in the prenup.
