According to new reports, Kim took the California bar exam in late July but presumably did not join other aspiring lawyers for the test. The exam typically took place at a large convention center; however, the COVID-19 pandemic prompted the implementation of a new system.

During the quarantine period, provisions were made for proctors to administer the exam more privately, a system Kim probably used due to her celebrity status. Nonetheless, taking the exam privately did not make it easier for the entertainer.

The California bar exam features five one-hour essay questions, one 90-minute performance test, and 200 multiple-choice questions. It takes two days to complete the grueling tests, which are widely regarded as one of the most challenging exams in the nation, according to TMZ.

Why The Reality TV Star May Be Anxious About Her Results

The California bar exam was highly challenging, having a passage rate of 53.8% for last July's applicants. Given the difficulty of the tests, people typically buried themselves in their studies in the months leading up to the exam, but Kim had a busy schedule.

The socialite reportedly traveled, shot a TV show, and attended Jeff Bezos's wedding in June. Her busy schedule hasn't ended; Kim is currently in Venice, Italy, where she received an award for her work in criminal justice.

Before becoming eligible for the California bar exam, Kim had to pass the baby bar exam because she did not attend law school. She aced the tests on her fourth attempt and spent six years working on her apprenticeship program, which concluded on May 21, 2025.

The Support For The TV Personality's Achievement Differed From Past Reactions

Kim announced her decision to become a lawyer in 2019, revealing she had decided to begin a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco the previous summer. Her initial goal was to take the baby bar exam in 2022 before pushing for the State Bar.

A source told PEOPLE that Kim was aware of the public's negative reactions to her law dreams; however, she was confident she would prove them wrong. They stressed that Kim had what it took to become a lawyer, hailing her "fantastic memory" and strong sense of justice.

The reality TV star's attorney, Mike Kump, echoed similar sentiments, claiming Kim had "perfect instincts" and "great judgment." He noted she was well-informed about various topics such as religion, politics, and law, and could hold her own in any conversation.

Kim has undoubtedly proven that she has what it takes to become an attorney, with her efforts earning her an award for her prison reform advocacy. On Thursday, August 28, she was honored at Diane von Furstenberg's DVF Awards.

Variety reported that Chris Young, the man she helped free from a life sentence in prison, presented the award to her. Kim also addressed the ongoing ICE raids while speaking to reporters before receiving the honor.

The entertainer bashed the raids, stressing that criminals were not the only targets, as good people had become victims of the mass deportation. "So many people that are such a part of our country are getting affected. People I know. People my friends know," Kim lamented.
