Cardi B’s civil trial exploded this week in Los Angeles when former security guard Emani Ellis took the stand and dropped jaw-dropping claims.

She testified that during a 2018 meeting in a Beverly Hills OB-GYN waiting room, when Cardi was four months pregnant, the rapper spat on her, accused her of gossiping about her medical visit, scratched her cheek with a long fingernail, and hurled corrosive insults.

Cardi appeared dressed in a sharp black suit, watching the testimony unfold with her legal team by her side.

On August 25, Ellis stepped up to testify that the confrontation began when she saw Cardi B in the lobby and blurted out, “Wow, that’s Cardi B.”

According to a report from TMZ, she claimed the 32-year-old immediately went off, getting in her face and accusing her of using her phone to spread the news of Cardi’s private appointment.

Ellis shared that the rapper then took a swing at her while firing off insults about her weight and job.

In no time, things allegedly turned physical as the former bodyguard told the court Cardi spat on her, uttered racial slurs, and used her fingernail to slice open her left cheek.

Her testimony painted a picture of an attack she says left lasting emotional and physical scars.

In addition to her testimony, Emani Ellis dropped the claim that Cardi was responsible for her job loss after the incident.

Recall that in 2020, TMZ reported that in Ellis’s lawsuit, she accused the mom of three of using “her celebrity status to get Ellis fired from her job as a security guard.”

At the time, a representative for the medical building explained that it wasn’t Cardi who pushed for the security guard to lose her job.

Instead, they said the decision came from the doctor and patient coordinator, who felt the guard had crossed a line and violated Cardi’s privacy.

At the recent hearing, Ellis confirmed the rep’s statement, clarifying that indeed, she lost her job due to a HIPAA violation and not a threat from the Grammy Award winner.

Meanwhile, Cardi B’s lawyer denied that the “Please Me” crooner battered the security guard.

During the cross-examination, the attorney, Peter Anderson, challenged Ellis with an incident report she had filed with her supervisor two days after the alleged assault.

He argued that the details in the report conflicted with her courtroom testimony, where she claimed she hadn’t been on her phone during the confrontation.

In the report, Ellis acknowledged holding her personal cell phone to her ear at the time, explaining to her supervisor that she had been checking her voicemail because her mother was sick.

Anderson pressed Ellis on another point he claimed didn’t add up between her testimony and the February 28, 2018, incident report she submitted to her boss.

“You said in the incident report that she scratched you on your nose, [but] you testified in this trial that Cardi B cut your cheek,” Anderson said per the Rolling Stone.

According to Anderson, this showed she had “changed her story.”

During his opening statement, Cardi’s attorney painted a picture of the tense and private moment disrupted by Ellis.

He told the jury that Cardi, who was in Los Angeles for work, had arranged a confidential Saturday appointment with her OB-GYN after becoming worried about her pregnancy.

To protect her privacy, the office had closed early, but the peace was broken when Ellis allegedly called out Cardi’s name while holding a phone to her ear.

Anderson said the pregnant musician turned and believed she was being filmed or photographed, and when she questioned Ellis, she was met with the defiant response: “Because I can.”

According to Anderson, the argument quickly escalated. He described Ellis as a physical threat, claiming she hovered over Cardi while shouting and swinging.

Witnesses reportedly heard Ellis scream, “I will f-ck your sh-t up,” before she was pulled away and escorted out.

Concertgoer Sues Cardi B For Assault And Battery

Cardi B is gearing up for more legal woes as an Ohio woman, going by Jane Doe, filed a lawsuit against the music star after she threw a microphone at her during a 2023 Las Vegas concert.

According to court papers filed in July 2025, Cardi asked the crowd to splash her with water because of the heat, but when Jane Doe did, the rapper allegedly hurled the mic at her face.

Per TMZ, the woman said the hit caused both physical pain and emotional distress. Her lawyer argued that the act was not part of the show but “a violent reaction.”

Meanwhile, Cardi’s legal team has dismissed the lawsuit as nothing more than “a money grab,” particularly since the police had previously chosen not to press charges.

Making matters worse, the microphone was later sold for nearly $100,000 at auction, which Jane Doe claims added to her humiliation. She is now seeking damages for the incident.
