Becky G In Black Two-Piece Gets Dragged Over Her Mexican Roots

Becky G appears to be having the time of her life this summer. She’s slaying Paris runways, riding boats, staying fit, and dropping hits.

The Latinx singer, 28, shared some shots of her latest performance on Instagram, where she donned a bikini with patterned see-through pants. Over 300 thousand fans double-tapped the post, and the comments overflowed with love. But there was also a little hate over her roots.

Becky G shone bright like a diamond in a tiny bikini outfit. Her dark hair, bikini, and shades set a mysterious vibe, while the gold jewelry added polish.

Over the bikini bottom, she wore patterned pants that drew the eye. One fan commented, ‘Need those bottoms, where can I find some similar?” Another fan wanted to know where she got the sunglasses.

The dark backdrop in the first few slides made her stand out even more. Fans called her “perfection.” Admirers left long proposals. Unfortunately, trolls were present in the comments, too.

A troll, attempting to criticize Becky G’s cultural identity, commented, “B*tch tried acting Puerto Rican her whole career, then all of a sudden she wanna be proud to be Mexican lmao pathetic m*tt.”

The troll’s claim about her “acting Puerto Rican” likely stems from her early music, which leaned into Puerto Rican reggaeton influences.

But the “Shower” singer has long identified as Mexican-American. She has explicitly embraced her heritage with her 2022 album “Esquemas,” as well as in interviews.

Supportive fans urged her to do more for Mexicans facing deportation and financial struggles. The singer, however, has spoken up against the mass deportations, citing immigrant grandparents, and has lent her voice to the cause.

Whether she provides direct aid, like the “rent money” demanded by one commenter, remains unclear.

In another Instagram carousel, Becky G enjoyed a summer boat day. She opened with a white two-piece but stole the show wearing a red bikini in subsequent slides.

She lay out on the deck in the second slide, shielded her face with a hat, let her bikini strap slip down, and flaunted her abs. She was simply “glowing.” One fan admitted, “Man, I wish I could take vacations like this.”

Becky G launched her makeup line, Treslúce Beauty, in 2022. But things took a turn when Araceli Beauty accused the brand of copying its product concepts. The brand allegedly took a hit after this controversy.

Although Becky G addressed the allegations, there’s still no buzz about the brand. Even the last post on its Instagram page was in January 2024. Plus, Becky G rarely promotes it now.

Redditors on the topic described some of the products as “not bad but not amazing.” Another one wrote, “Tresluce is actually the brand with the most items on the Ipsy shop currently,” pointing at low sales. Perhaps, there’ll be a revival moment in the future.

Becky G was engaged to soccer player Sebastian Lletget in 2022. The pair started dating in 2016, but allegedly faced turbulence after cheating rumors surfaced months into the engagement.

In March 2023, Lletget publicly apologized to Becky G for a “lapse in judgment” and for “disrespecting” her, seemingly confirming the rumors. Later that year, they were spotted together in California. But on Instagram, Becky G’s engagement ring has been missing. So, the status of their relationship now remains unclear.
