Taylor Swift In Revealing Gemstones Is ‘Giving Dirty Bathwater’ With New Album Art

Pop star Taylor Swift is not making many fans with her new album artwork. “The Life of a Showgirl” is a shift into a new era. Gone is the gray and grab “The Tortured Poets Department” theme. Now, the “Anti-Hero” singer is playing with feathers and glitter as she embraces a new sexy side. Although some have blamed her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, for this new shift, others think that Swift herself might be behind it as she approaches her 36th birthday. Word has spread across social media that she is “desperate” to reclaim her youth and reinvent herself as a sex symbol.

Although the album covers and their new variants have been getting more risqué, a Reddit thread devoted to her original album artwork has attracted hundreds of comments. One fan posted an image of Swift lying in a pool of water, dressed in an outfit made of gemstones and a face full of makeup. The user called the artwork “so ugly” and called out the typography.

Another comment also took issue with the font, writing, “Not the Showtime channel font lol. It’s giving dirty bath water.” Another follower was quick to agree, commenting, “It reminds me of a serial killer who disposed of a corpse in the water or something. So many other photos would have been a million times better.”

Other users compared Swift’s new era to “America’s Next Top Model.” Although it is doubtful that Swift took her inspiration from the popular show, one user commented, “It's giving tragic ANTM water photoshoot where they almost get hypothermia so they look in pain and uncomfortable in the photos.”

“In a cup that is too small,” another user agreed. “This is exactly the kind of thing you’d see on ANTM. I can hear Tyra saying, ‘Sometimes you’re going to show up to a shoot and the clothes aren’t going to fit, but it’s you who wears the clothes—the clothes don’t wear you!!’”

The “Bejeweled” singer announced her new album on the “New Heights” podcast, hosted by her boyfriend and his brother, Jason Kelce. Although many of her fans, known as Swifties, loved her appearance and their conversation, others couldn’t help but comment on her face. Some have speculated that she got a facelift, but Swift has never confirmed that she has ever gone under the knife.

Still, that didn’t stop some users from speculating about her “old face,” which they claim was the one used in the album artwork. “The way they retouched her face to look like her old face is freaking me out,” they wrote. “This cover is absolutely here to gaslight you into not believing the surgery rumors.”

Although Swift has not released any new music yet, she has released several variants, which are available for pre-order ahead of the album’s official release date on October 3. It remains to be seen if she will release a single or a music video ahead of the album’s official release.
