Wynonna Judd's Alleged Role in Daughter's Sexual Abuse at Hands of Ex-Stepfather Exposed: 'Never a Mother'

In a shocking turn of events, Wynonna Judd is being accused by her daughter, Grace Kelley, of playing a huge role in her alleged traumatic sexual abuse.

Kelley was allegedly abused by the country singer’s ex-husband, D.R. Roach, and is now opening up about how her mother reportedly tried to cover everything up. 

After facing tumultuous years of trouble with the law, Judd’s daughter seems to have found peace and has settled down to a sober life of loving God in Charlottesville. 

Kelley recently opened up about the sexual assault she allegedly endured at the young age of 10. During an exclusive with Daily Progress, the country singer’s daughter pointed accusing fingers at her mother for being complicit in her abuse. 

Kelley recalled how her former stepfather, Roach, molested her. Rather than report to the authorities, she alleged that her mother took her to counseling instead. 

The abuse only got reported when Kelley’s story came to light during one of her counseling sessions. “Then, when they found out I’m counseling what he had done to me, they’re like, ‘Wait a minute. We’re going to report this to law enforcement,’” she recalled. 

“So is my mom rich? Yeah, she’s so rich that she was able to sweep me under the rug and cover it all up. I don’t want to talk about my mom, but we’ll just say she’s a good performer. She was never a mother,” Kelley added. 

The artist’s daughter noted that her mother only divorced her second husband when he got arrested, and it came out in the news.

Roach was arrested in 2007. He pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated sexual battery and is also a registered sex offender in Tennessee. 

In 2010, Judd opened up about her second husband’s arrest, saying that she went into “mama bear mode” after the incident. She told Oprah Winfrey she was so livid that she “let it all fly” and called Roach “everything” she could think of.

Feeling hurt and betrayed by her ex-husband, the singer noted that she didn’t want to speak about it at the time because of the child involved. 

“It’s their story [to tell] when they’re ready to talk. That’s what’s so scary, is that it is someone that you know. There’s a trust there. There’s a bond… The best revenge is living well. I cleaned out my house, got rid of everything that reminded me of him,” she said, according to People Magazine.

Kelley has had a troubled past and has had several run-ins with the law. In October 2024, she stole a van from a church in Charlottesville and was held without bail in Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail. 

At the time, the country star’s daughter faced seven charges, including grand larceny. As reported by The Blast, the pastor whose van she had stolen said she “could have been high” and didn’t seem to be of sound mind.

Luckily for the 29-year-old, her charges were downgraded to possession of drug paraphernalia, drugged driving, and petty larceny. She spent time in jail and afterwards joined the congregation of the pastor whose vehicle she had stolen. 

Amid her legal troubles, Kelley welcomed a daughter, Kaliyah Chanel, in 2022. Following her frequent visits in and out of jail, she left Chanel in her mother’s custody. 

According to The Blast, Judd once spoke about taking care of her grandchild, admitting that it helped her cope with the loss of her mother, the iconic late Naomi Judd. 

“She looks right through me, she gives me hope. They give you something to think about other than yourself,” Judd said. 

Being a mother, Judd couldn’t help but be concerned about the difficulties her daughter faced.

As reported by The Blast, a source revealed that Judd was “worried out of her mind” after she was tasked with the responsibility of raising her grandchild. 

“For Wynonna, raising a young child, her granddaughter, is a lot harder at her age, too,” the insider explained.
