The Supreme brand has become synonymous with rebellious art. The designs and creative visions behind much of its clothing remain a testament to the “underground” and “dirty” culture that is often associated with city life.
One could describe the clothing as “punkish”, but there is a cultural elegance within the clothing line that reflects a trend in modern culture. That trend being people’s desire to look “cool” and stand out from the crowd.
Despite humble beginnings, these pieces of clothing are treated like modern art, fetching thousands of dollars per piece at auctions!

The clothing has been influenced by a vast number of designers and creators, each with their own styles. While some of the Supreme clothing lines were made more political than cartoony, just as many contained artistic designs and graffiti in various styles.
Creators like Rammellzee, Martha Cooper, Kenneth Cappello, Roy Lichtenstein, R. Crumb, Mark Gonzales, Shawn Mortensen, Ralph Bakshi, and several others were among the first to create designs since the brand started.
The controversial nature of the Supreme designs remain a valued feature in the eyes of collectors today. And even famous celebrities like Kate Moss took notice!

Supreme doesn’t just create T-shirts by the way. In fact, they scored an amazing photo shoot with Lady Gaga who was contacted by a few of the designers with the brand. To add flair to the shoot, they designed a classic box logo tee, underwear and the Supreme Birkin bag.
If you haven’t seen this shoot, it is definitely something to behold. (And not because Gaga covers her fully nude body with a skateboard!)
Brendon Babenzien and Ricky Saiz were the ones to reach out, so you can thank them for this glamorous celebrity shoot!

A super popular design and infamous celebrity collaboration was between Supreme and retired boxing legend, Mike Tyson!
According to the history of the costly T-shirt:
“This picture was shot in a Las Vegas hotel room by Kenneth Capello who revealed that Mike Tyson was heavily cursing out him and his assistants throughout the shoot leaving us with this iconic piece.”
Tyson had actually retired from boxing a year before this shoot, but not before he had already become the undisputed heavy-weight boxing champ of the world.
A 'Supreme' Rainbow Connection

Although the aforementioned collaborations are spectacular in their own right, few celebrity collaborations can compare to the one that redefined a “rainbow connection”.
Indeed, the “lovers, the dreamers and me” had never been more proudly worn on city streets than in 2008 when Supreme revealed that it would release apparel with Kermit The Frog featured on it!
With variations of the art including pictures of Kermit with a skateboard, to him with long-time Supreme employee Ty Lyons, this collaboration was a legendary moment for the brand!
