Fans Dub Kevin Hart ‘Unfunny’ After Cancel Culture Rant

Kevin Hartis a 41-year-old comedian born in Philadelphia. Although best known for his stand-up career, he has also gone on to star in films like “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and “Central Intelligence" with Dwayne Johnson.

Recently, Hart has denounced cancel culture as a “malicious attack” to end his career. After he was announced as the host for the 2019 Academy Awards, Twitter users resurfaced past homophobic tweets that Hart had made a decade ago, along with controversial jokes he made about the gay community.

“That’s an attack to end me. That’s not an attack to end the Oscars, that’s an attack to end me. This was to destroy me,” he said at the time.

Hart has some strong opinions about cancel culture, and he hasn’t been shy about letting fans know that he thinks the concept of cancel culture is “nonsense.”

"I've been canceled, what, three or four times?” he asked. “Never bothered. If you allow it to have an effect on you, it will. Personally? That's not how I operate. I understand people are human. Everyone can change."

He continued, "It's like jail. People get locked up so they can be taught a lesson. When they get out, they are supposed to be better. But if they come out and people go, 'I'm not giving you a job because you were in jail' - then what the f--- did I go to jail for?"

"That was my punishment - how do you not give those people a shot? They're saying that all life should be over because of a mistake? Your life should end and there should be no opportunity to change? What are you talking about? And who are you to make that decision?"

Although the “Get Hard” star says he is trying to be funny, not offensive, he admits that some fans might not always see it that way, especially when he tells jokes about controversial topics.

“There’s an assumption that it’s always bad, and somehow, we forgot comedians are going for the laugh,” he said of his critical audience. “I’m trying to make you laugh and if I did not make you laugh I failed. That’s my consequence.”

Unfortunately, it seems that his recent 2020 comedy special, “Zero F***s Given” may have had that effect on fans, who called his recent venture “unfunny.”

In the special, Hart addresses the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, what it’s like to engage in sex after age 40, and, of course, cancel culture.

Although fans were looking forward to his new material, many were left underwhelmed by his performance.

“It’s been like 20-30 minutes and I [haven’t laughed] yet,” one fan wrote.

“It’s official 2020 sour sour sour,” wrote another. “Even Kevin Hart ain’t funny no more.”

Fans were quick to agree with the tweet, with one comment saying, “I know right. Watch the whole thing like” accompanied with a meme of someone yawning as they fall asleep sitting down.

Although the “Fatherhood” actor admits to being angry with the cancel culture at the time, he has “worked hard to get to the mental space that I am at now.”

“I'm in a great place, a great mature place where all I do is spread positivity,” he explained. “If you're not doing that, you're not on my page."

In regards to his controversial tweets, the actor says that he has apologized and moved on.

“Guys, I’m almost 40 years old,” the comic continued. “If you don’t believe that people grow, change, evolve as they get older, I don’t know what to tell you.”
