Nicolas Cage's son, Weston Coppola Cage, is speaking out for the first time about his sentencing in his assault case involving his mother, Christina Fulton.

Back in April, Weston was ordered into a two-year mental health diversion program after a judge ruled the incident was the result of a mental health crisis.

The fallout stems from last year's explosive charges, when Weston Coppola Cage was accused of attacking Christina Fulton and hit with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Weston is finally speaking out after the legal case that put him in the spotlight earlier this year. The musician says the outcome has left him stronger and more focused, stressing that forgiveness is now his way forward.

Addressing the attention surrounding the incident, Weston admitted, "I've definitely been a target for a lot of misconceptions my whole life, but I know that only happens to people who are intimidated by the calling of it."

He made the comments while appearing at the Future of Film Association's OPTIX Film Series in Las Vegas on August 15, where he spoke about the case and what lies ahead.

According to The Daily Mail, Weston also hinted that he intends to publicly clear up false impressions when the time is right, telling them he plans to set the record straight in due course.

Part of that effort will come through a documentary he is developing, currently titled "The Beast of God." Weston says the project will focus on his turbulent childhood and promises it will be an intense viewing experience.

Weston shared that his upcoming documentary will also highlight his spiritual journey. He revealed that since exchanging vows with Jenifer Alexa Canter in Beverly Hills on April 25, he has been experiencing what he calls a series of "spiritual awakenings."

This is Weston's fourth marriage. He first wed Nikki Williams in 2011, followed by Danielle Cage in 2013, and later Hila Cage Coppola in 2018. "It's been absolutely wonderful," Weston shared, adding that finding that connection required real alignment in his life.

He admitted that part of that process has meant rethinking who he surrounds himself with. "I just found that I was surrounded with a lot of people in my life that need to be eliminated," he stated.

According to Weston, clearing out negative influences has left room for more meaningful things to take root.

Weston's recent statement marks his first on the case since his court appearance. The Blast noted that earlier this month, he entered a Downtown Los Angeles courtroom, where he stood by his not guilty plea to the assault charges.

Once the hearing ended, Weston did not hold back when approached by reporters. He took aim at Christina, telling cameras, "She needs help."

Inside the courtroom, his only remarks were to confirm he understood that the matter was pushed to September 19 for the next hearing. Judge Susan De Witt also issued a criminal protective order, which prevents Weston from contacting his mother while the case moves forward.

In a statement, Christina explained that on April 28, 2024, she was contacted by friends of Weston who were worried about his condition and urged her to check on him. The 34-year-old is fighting back against claims made by his mother, calling them false. The Blast reported that Weston is taking legal steps to have the case thrown out.

In his filing, he argues that Christina's own behavior during the situation bars her from seeking damages or other relief from the court.

His attorney went further, stating that any harm or injuries she pointed to were the result of her own negligence and actions, and that her demands for compensation should be reduced based on her role in the conflict.

The legal team also raised the defense of "unclean hands," maintaining that Christina's conduct prevents her from moving forward with her claims against Weston.
