Chicago Sky fans finally have a reason to be optimistic, as the team shared footage of star Angel Reese back at practice today. The star rookie has been sidelined with a back injury for several weeks, and her return to the court is a welcome sight for a team that has struggled in her absence.
Angel Reese Has Missed Seven Consecutive Chicago Sky Games Due To Injury

Reese has been sidelined from Chicago Sky games since July 29, 2025, when her team lost to the Washington Mystics in a fiery contest with a final score of 103-86. Per official reports, Reese suffered a back injury.
The WNBA sensation is undoubtedly one of the star players for the Sky, considering she leads her team in points, rebounds, and assists per game.
Head coach Tyler Marsh has spoken briefly about her injury, previously sharing that while the 23-year-old has no projected return date, the Sky's training staff is carefully monitoring her progress.
In the middle of August 2025, Marsh updated reporters again and shared that Reese had returned to doing "on court activities" and that she "shouldn't be much longer" regarding her healing progress.

The Sky have struggled mightily in Reese's absence, losing six out of their last seven games. While the team didn't have a winning record even with Reese in the lineup, her presence on the court certainly improved their chances of securing a victory, as the team suffered many close losses earlier in the season.
Coach Marsh acknowledged the advantage his team has when Reese is on the floor. Speaking with Chicago State of Mind Sports after practice, he called Reese's energy "infectious," calling her a vital component of their team's success.
He also emphasized the importance of ensuring Reese is ready not only physically, but also mentally. "We never want to rush anything that isn't there, but when she's fully ready to go, we'll be ready to plug her back in," he said.
Reese Has Big Things Coming For WNBA Fans

Another reason many WNBA fans are eager to see Reese return to the court is to see her signature shoe, the "Angel Reese 1s," which are scheduled for release on September 18, 2025.
The Reebok sneaker draws inspiration from the athletic apparel giant's Mobius line, which features the company's signature Exoskeleton upper, seamlessly blending Reese's style on the court with her presence off the court.
The basketball shoes will be available in three different colorways: all-white, all-pink, and the classic black and white. They feature the company's Energy Return System, or ERS, in the heel of the shoe to offer athletes both stability and flexibility.
The "Angel Reese 1s" also feature a TPU stability cup and high-abrasion rubber outsoles, which provide the perfect amount of traction and grip.

According to a previous report from The Blast, Reese said that the "Angel Reese 1s" aren't just another shoe. "... it's my style, my story, and my stamp on the game," she said.
"Reebok and I built something that's true to who I am, and I hope it pushed others to stand in their power, too," she continued. "At the end of the day, it's built for basketball, made to move and perform at the highest level."
