Winona Ryder is all for pro-aging!
The sensational actress recently got candid about aging and how Hollywood has become overrun with plastic surgeries and cosmetic procedures to stay youthful. While many want their wrinkles gone, she refuses to go down that road.
Winona Ryder, born Winona Laura Horowitz, rose to fame for playing fun, quirky characters in the late 1980s. Once hailed as a teen idol, the TV personality's roles have switched to more mature women, and she has one particular character she would love to play!
Winona Ryder Gets Vulnerable About Aging In Hollywood

Ryder got candid about aging in Hollywood in a new interview, revealing that despite her youthful appearance, she always knew time would catch up to her. At 53 going on 54 in October, she noted her appearance had started to reflect the tell-tale signs of aging.
"I don't mind it. But what's weird is when you're surrounded by young women getting weird sh-t done," Ryder said. She referenced the buccal-fat removal trend, noting that she initially believed people getting the procedures was a joke. In her opinion, these women would regret losing their cheek fat in 10 years.
Although she did not mind aging, Ryder noted that some female directors have pointed out that she needed to look more youthful by dabbling in Botox.
"They'll say, 'Just relax your forehead. Relax.' I'm trying to be a great actor, and they're saying that over and over," she told ELLE UK, noting that Botox would hinder her acting skills.
The Former Teen Star Looked Forward To Aging

Ryder doubled down on being pro-aging, stressing that she "always wanted to be older" after starting her career at a young age. "It's nice that people are talking about how it's OK to age, but there's still enormous pressure," she explained.
"Every role I get is for a mother, you know? My career has definitely shifted," Ryder added. Despite being limited to motherly roles, she stressed that she would continue portraying these characters for fans' enjoyment.
However, Ryder hoped to play a particular character, confessing, "So, I think what I aspire to, finally, is to play the judge who's like, 'Chambers now, counsellor! Too far!'" She also reflected on how one of her favorite roles cost her an appearance with the late Hollywood icon, Marlon Brando.
The TV Personality Alleges She Lost A Role Thanks To A Teen Movie

Ryder claimed she faced significant pressure for starring as Veronica Sawyers in "Heathers," a 1988 dark comedy movie. She noted people told her she would never work again if she took the role, a half-right prediction, as she lost a job.
The actress noted she wanted to star on "The Freshman" with the late actor Brando and had successfully landed the role before the filmmakers changed their mind. She explained they did a complete 180 after watching "Heathers" and were "deeply offended" by the movie.
Despite being disappointed at losing a chance to work with Brando, Ryder stressed that she stood her ground and refused to apologize. She added that the dark comedy movie holds a special place in her heart to date, claiming she would always watch it whenever it played on TV.
More About The Actress' Favorite Movie

This wasn't the first time Ryder had addressed her love for "Heathers," previously claiming in an interview that she had "probably seen it 50 times." The dark comedy was directed by Michael Lehmann and gained recognition as a cult classic despite failing at the box office.
The movie reportedly influenced other high-school films like "Mean Girls," with Far Out Magazine covering how Ryder's career changed. Her portrayal of Veronica Sawyer marked her first leading role after making her acting debut in the movie "Lucas."
Ryder's performance as a teenager trying to break free from her clique showcased her ability to portray cunning, innocence, and humor. She effortlessly won viewers' hearts, making them side with her even when the events turned dark, thanks to her character's boyfriend, JD.
Winona Ryder's Iconic Haircut Is Back!

According to Vogue, Ryder's famous "bixie" (bob-meets-pixie) haircut from her 1994 "Reality Bites" era is back. The haircut dubbed "Winona" has influenced others to chop their hair for the versatile and low-effort look, including actress Katherine Langford.
Hairstylist Halley Brisker raved about the look, describing it as "three styles in one." She explained that people could rock "Winona" as a pixie, crop, or bob, noting it required little effort to style as desired. Hairstylist and groomer Charley McEwen echoed similar sentiments about the iconic bixie.
McEwen claimed many opted for "Winona" because the haircut offered "a bit of that late '90s elegance." Besides Ryder, famous figures like the late Princess Diana and superstar Kate Moss have rocked the bixie haircut.
