Cardi B Details Receiving Her 'Fast & Furious' Role

Last April, fans were supposed to be treated to the ninth installment of the "Fast & Furious" movie series, which has been around since all the back in 2001. This film, like many others worldwide, ended up having their release dates pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic plaguing the world. Thankfully, in 2021, people are finally getting their normal lives back and are back to going to movie theaters. For Fast & Furious 9, it is set for a June 25 release date in the US.

Back in late 2019, Cardi B posted a video of herself with Vin Diesel, as the two were on set of the forthcoming "Fast 9" film. This immediately led fans of the Bronx rapper in excitement, as they wondered what her role was going to be. It ended up turning out to be Cardi playing the role of a woman who is tied to Diesel's past, who is named Leysa. Diesel has always played the role of Dominic Toretto.

In a recent interview, Cardi detailed how she got involved in being casted in "Fast 9," and how Vin Diesel was the one who originally reached out to her regarding the role.

"Vin Diesel reached out, and he was talking about a role. I'm like, it's freakin' Fast & Furious. Get me there, put me on a plane! I like the fact that I'm representing such a powerful strong woman. She's just that bitch...I remember when I saw Ludacris in Fast & The Furious, then to see Don Omar, it makes the hood have hope."

Cardi went on to explain how working with Vin Diesel was such a positive experience for her. She explained how nice of a person he is on set, and he does what he can to make fellow cast members feel comfortable with their roles. Overall, Cardi loved being with the stars on set in general, such as Diesel himself and Ludacris.

"Being around Vin, he's just so nice, so dope," Cardi added. "He makes you feel so comfortable. I'm just so excited."

While Cardi is one of the most popular artists in the world, she is building up her filmography resume a lot now. Back in the fall of 2019, she also appeared in the film, "Hustlers." Other stars here included Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, and Lizzo. These ladies played the roles of dancers in strip clubs, who are getting by in the New York-plagued recession of 2007-2008. Overall, fans loved Cardi's performance in Hustlers, and are looking forward to seeing her in Fast 9 as well.
